Anambra State Governor, Prof Charles Chukwuma Soludo on Saturday, October 8, 2023 kicked off the Solution Community Shield Championship at Awka Township Stadium.

Speaking during the kickoff flanked by Deputy Governor, Dr Onyekachi Ibezim, Deputy Speaker ASHA, Rt Hon Pius Okoye and others, Governor Soludo declared his plan to boost Anambra economy through promoting sporting activities in the state.

He added that the idea behind this is to ensure our youth live healthy and remain+ healthy by exercising dirty and eating healthy. He urged all the communities to ensure they put up their best to be the best for Ndi Anambra.

Shortly after the kickoff while answering questions from the press, he declared that Anambra is on the verge of having their freshly minted football club and through a competition like this, we can export sport to the world.

The National Chairman Association of Anambra Town Union (ASATU), Barr Titus Akpudo (Ichaka) thanked Mr Governor for approving this platform through which Anambra Youths from the 179 communities can showcase their talents football wise.

He added that from this championship it will be easy for the Anambra State Sports Development Commission (ASSDC) led by Mr Estate Patrick Onyedum to make selection of the best heads for the Anambra homegrown Solution Football Club.

Barr Akpudo equally thank the Youth Development Commissioner, Mr Patrick Agha Mba and Mr Tonycollins Nwabunwanne for their roles in bringing this championship to the limelight.

Highlights include governor's kickoff and match between Awka Community Vs Ogidi Community.

Secretary to the State Government, Prof Solo Chukwulobelu, Deputy Speaker Anambra State House of Assembly, Rt Hon Pius Okoye, TC Chairperson Idemili South LGA, Mrs Amaka Obi (Iyom), TC Chairman Anambra East LGA, Dr Anselm Onuorah, NFF Representatives and others graced the event.
