The Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo, has slammed the forgery allegation levelled against President Bola Tinubu by the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party in the 2023 general elections, Atiku Abubakar.

This is as he stated that the Chicago State University certificate President Bola Tinubu submitted to the Independent National Electoral Commission was secured from a third-party vendor.

The former chief spokesman of the dissolved Tinubu-Shettima Presidential Campaign Council made the statement via his official X account on Sunday.

The development is coming after the Peoples Democratic Party presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, filed new documents against Tinubu before the Supreme Court in which he accused the President of forgery and lying under oath, and should therefore be disqualified and removed from office.

The evidence filed by the former vice president was the academic records of Tinubu, which were handed over to him by the Chicago State University on Monday following the order of an Illinois court in the United States of America instructing the institution to release the academic records as requested by Atiku.

The PDP candidate had requested the documents for use in Nigerian courts to support his argument that Tinubu forged a certificate he claimed to have obtained from the CSU in 1979 and submitted to the country’s electoral body, the Independent National Electoral Commission, for the 2023 presidential election.

But Keyamo insisted that all the sentiments and allegations of forgery being peddled around the president’s credentials were baseless, adding that it was the duty of Atiku and his supporters to get the undisclosed vendor that issued the replacement certificate to deny its authenticity.

He said, “I have been a defence and prosecution lawyer at the highest level in criminal trials for more than 30 years. You cannot allege or prove forgery except the purported maker of the document denies its authenticity or there is uncontradicted evidence of a forensic report that categorically says the document was deliberately altered or concocted by the person who uttered (in a legal sense) or issued it.

“Applying this principle to the case of Atiku Abubakar Vs Chicago State University, so long as the university openly said they do not issue replacement certificates. But (added) that vendors do so on their behalf. All these noise about so-called forgery are useless until the particular vendor that issued the replacement certificate to Tinubu denies its authenticity. And it is the duty of the accuser to fish out the said vendor and get that evidence. It is not the other way around. He who alleges must prove.”

According to the Senior Advocate of Nigeria, it was the same basic principle he deployed in defence of former President Muhammed Buhari when a similar scenario played out during his tenure.
While reiterating that Tinubu has no case to answer, Keyamo sarcastically urged Atiku to quietly bow out of politics.

“This is the simple principle I laid down in 2019 during our defence of President Buhari that has been so mischievously celebrated as if they have hit the bull’s eye. Unfortunately for them, Tinubu is as clean and white as snow on this issue and we are again waiting for them at the Supreme Court.

“As for Atiku Abubakar (the famed SPV king and the one who disgraced Nigeria internationally with the money-laundering case involving Congressman William Jefferson), we acknowledge the valedictory speech he delivered a few days ago signifying his retirement from politics and we wish him Godspeed in that retirement,” he stated.

The CSU never endorsed any third party vendors to print their certificates. They even described them as online forgery sites that some folks patronise. Keyamo is lying. Go and verify.

The CSU clearly stated their process for replacements and confirmed that Tinubu has never picked up any certificate from them or applied for any replacement.

Even if third party vendors print certificates, they can only do so after authorisation from the school and the school stated under oath that they did not get any such requests for Tinubu.

A vendor cannot just open shop and begin to print certificates for anyone that comes knocking undecided Do you know what that means?

Maybe I will ask them to print Havard First Class certificate for me too. cheesy

Keyamo is lying and deceiving people. The transcript is there for anyone that cares to read. The CSU even stated that they ASSUMED that the Bola A Tinubu on their records is the same as the illegitimate man in Aso Rock.

Meanwhile, can Keyamo tell us how Tinubu graduated in 1970 from a secondary school that was established in 1974? Even the CSU degree was obtained on fraud, forgery and falsehood because Tinubu must have presented fake GCE results to the CSU and deceived the school into granting him admission. grin grin grin

The CSU also stated that they have never issued any certificate to Tinubu so which certificate was Tinubu replacing?

Keyamo is an eediot.

Some of us have refused to join issues with serial losers that have not gotten anything right over the years.

It's nonsensical and downgrading to engage any soul that can believe that Buhari was cloned in the past.

A whole group of people "knew" Buhari died and was cloned with jubrin from Sudan.

Same group "knew" Nnamdi Kanu was going to Abuja and return with Buhari's head on a spike.

I'm referring to the same group who agreed all Hausa from the North voted pitobi despite the insults.

How do you explain academic certification system to that group of people? Not even Nigerian system but Americans'.

E get some things wey no dey possible for this world.

Baseless on what ground, festus Keyamo

That it took Festus Keyamo over a week to come up with this watery response shows that he must have been given a marching order to either put up something in defense of the certificate forger or lose his ministerial appointment and of course he chose the former because of crumbs

If this is the best defense Keyamo can cook up, I can boldly say Tinubu is a goner.

Keyamo should remember that this is now an international issue, he is no longer lying to only Nigerians. The world is watching.

The best they can do right now is to bring out prominent people, still in paid employment or holding elected positions who obtained their certificates the same way Tinubu did. This would at least hold water.

Anything less than this, he is trying to retain his Agbados supporters by lying to them and not to rest of us.

Same Keyamo that accused Thïefnubu as Lagos Governor, of certificate forgery /False Declaration.

The certificate Thïefnubu presented to INEC is from 3rd Party Oluwole vendor.

How did Thïefnubu obtain a certificate that stated he graduated in 1970 from a school that never existed till 1974.

Thïefnubu is a Criminal and Certified Certificate Forger CCCF.

Since CSU did not print certificate, they are automatically saying they don’t know the content of the certificate Senator tinubu parades ie whether it was printed at oluwole or Medellin ( home town of Pablo Escobar and origin of the biggest cocaine distribution network in the world) in Columbia or Guinea

Hmmm.
What is obvious in all these is the attempt by BATists to foist a twisted logic of what is legal and illegal on everyone. I dare any batist to answer in the affirmative in the following situations:

A) You have 10 million in a bank. It's weekend and you need to treat your wife with 3million in an health emergency. The bank manager says the bank won't be opened until Monday. You get yourself a couple of artisans, break into the bank, take your 10m and leave a note saying you came to take your money for an emergency, then get the artisans to repair all damages and return the bank to normal condition. You've done nothing wrong not so?
B) You have paid bride price for a new wife and even legalised the union in a registry. On the night of your wedding, the bride says she's no longer interested and have no intention of consummation of the union. You can wait no more, your manhood is on. You have your way forcefully after all, you're now legally recognised as the husband. You're still on the right side of the law not so?
C) Your WAEC certificate got burnt in a fire. Since you have a photocopy with your grades for each subject, you approach Oluwole Street in Yaba and engage a graphics printer to design another one for you with the correct grades and every other details in the original. You are still within your rights ain't it?
The bottom line in all these examples is taking the laws into one's hands or resorting to self-help.
For the umpteenth time, this is Nigeria not America, and certificates are a big deal here and not ceremonial. If Tinubu and CSU knew that certificates from US are not worth the paper on which they are printed, then he should have respected Nigerian laws and submitted his transcript instead.
The office of the president is an office that demands the highest moral and legal standards, but we keep lowering it on the altar of politics and tribal identification.
We either want a working country or we don't!!
