Again, may your life be ruled by a Ghaddafi in the way he ruled Libya if you really believe all that list(which seems to have popped up online only some months ago, and have been spread around mostly conspiracy driven sites in that period).

42 years is a bit too long for a sane person to be president.
Re: 14 Great Works Of Gadaffi by femmy2010(m): 5:13am On Oct 22, 2011
He should have just stepped down when the protest started but frankly 42years is just too much.

Until i see a president in Africa that has more positives than Gaddafi, he remains the brightest brain of all African leaders (dead and alive)
Re: 14 Great Works Of Gadaffi by otokx(m): 5:49am On Oct 22, 2011
i doubt he did all that but 42 years is too long to hold on to power. Worse still, he turned libya to a family business.

Just like the US and co is trying to turn the world to their family business? whether you like to join them or not, they just have to force you into joining them either by violence or by blackmail.

remember he also came in via a military coup, maybe the new ones that came in too would do better for the country.
42 years?that is also unfair for other brighter brains in Libya.

Those saying 42 years is too long etc, how long has the monarch in England ruled? is it a family business? why the hypocrisy and double standards? eh? why? oh why? sad it takes a real defiant man to stand up to the west and US the way he did, that's why the hated him, that's why they've killed him. lets hope it doesn't take another 42 years for a visionary leader like Gadafi to rise to eminense again smiley

What system of governance was Libya practicing during Gaddafi Era?remembered he had to kill before he go to the throne so what is wrong if he is killed for a more visionary leader to seat on power?
The real person with power in England is the Prime minister who is elected by the citizenry and not imposed.
Remember this same Gaddafi fired at protestant who demanded for a change(is making the people live in fear a best way to rule)

Point of correction:
The Queen does not rule England, she's just a ceremonial head like Nnamdi Azikiwe was in the sixties.

For wanting to rule a country of about 14m people for life is never acceptable and can never be justified.

For all intents and purposes electricity was free for most Libyans. The articles you posted say that electricity was only paid for by 40% of Libyans, and that even then the electricity was subsidized and only cost the equivalent of $0.01US or 2.60 Naira per KWh.

The refrigerator in my house costs 60KWh per year to run. If a Libyan had a similiar refrigerator, it would only cost them $0.60US for the entire year to run my refrigerator. In my state, electricity costs $0.10KWh from my service provider, 10x what a libyan paid, if they paid at all.

Regarding the two links you posted regarding interest, the key term that the book mentions, is that this is the interest rate for commercial paper.

Commercial paper is defined as an unsecured promissory note with a fixed maturity of 1 to 270 days. Commercial Paper is a money-market security issued (sold) by large banks and corporations to get money to meet short term debt obligations (for example, payroll), and is only backed by an issuing bank or corporation's promise to pay the face amount on the maturity date specified on the note.

This has nothing to do with whether or not individual libyans actually paid interest, because it is the interest rate banks charged other banks and companies who needed to borrow money to meet short term debt obligations. Not surprisingly, on the list you mentioned, only Belarus has a lower interest rate than Libya for even this purpose.

I wouldn't bother responding to kobojunkie's post. He who has ears let them hear.

Who armed the rebels? So we believe they had what it takes to topple libya? Some opinions here are a joke!
