Egosi Ile is a town in the Oke Ero Local Government Area of Kwara state. It’s part of a larger region that includes places like Iloffa and Imode Ayedun. To understand Egosi Ile Kingdom, you have to know about all the different parts that make up this beautiful place, and OKE-ESE is one of them.

Now, let’s dive into a brief history of Oke Esa Compound, as told by a prominent descendant of the Areyin family, HIGH CHIEF ODOFIN ADETONA OF EGOSI KINGDOM.

“I consciously remember in those days when there weren’t Health Medical facilities, the like of so many of us then, when fell sick in our compound, they took us to the Baobab tree at the back yard of our compounds by our mothers accompanied with some local eatries such as coconut, ground nuts, granded maize cake (Ekute), red oil beans cakes, white beans cake (Ekuru) sugar cane cut into short sizes.


On getting there with the assembly of little little children from Oke Esa Compound, prayers are rendered by the eldest mother in the compound and the mother of any afflicted child for the warding off of the sickness and speedy recovery frm the health attack. Before you know it, the child regained his or her health.

Equal of note then, was the ANNUAL appeasing of another big TREE by our GREAT GREAT grand fathers at our first ANCESTRAL settlement after the migration from Oke Esa Compound, Omu-Aran.

Oral history revealed that Oke Ilaro compound, domicile in a particular thick forest headed by a very skillful man in hunting animals, brave and so powerful in native charms was the recipient of our first GREAT GREAT grand father from Oke Esa Compound in Omu-Aran who decided to stay away from home due to unbearable and unimaginable afflictions that necessitated his refusal to return home after his settlement.



The origin of his relationship, was a product of the duo of Oke Ilaro Hunter meeting with our said GREAT GREAT 1st migrant who History revealed to be a powerful Hunter too and as per adventure became highly closed knitted friend.

The duo had unquantumly love, affection and unwavering support for each other of which settling together became a veritable option which was concretized. The option led to a permanent ceceeding of a definite territorial area of land to our Pioneer great great grand Fathers for a permanent settlement and for farming activities wt his prospective family members AND given the right to name d settlement after the compound he migrated from, in Omu-Aran.

Till today, the settlement is called Ile Oke Esa. Take note, Oke Esa Compound in Egosi till date maintains its hallowed relationship cum ANCESTRAL Association with our ANCESTRAL Oke Esa compound in Omu- Aran. D ancient Oke Esa ANCESTRAL settlement in Egosi in the thick forest, is up till today being blessed with so muh rich soil for farming activities.


Both cash and food crops produce bountiful harvests for our men and women practicing farming occupation at home. Having briefly provided the antecedent background check and excursion on the History of of our family compound and how we became part of Egosi from Omu – Aran, I wish to tell our children that various scattered settlements that bear Egosi today were in those days in isolated locations :Oke Ilaro, Oko Orun, Ile Ajiso, Ile Okankan, Oke Orisa, Ile Elegosi, Ile Ogbonja, Ile Olu, Ile Aofin, Ilegun, Oke Epe and Ile Abisi, making thirteen compounds in Egosi.

Due to those days inter tribal wars, d scattered settlements concluded at a point in time the arrangement to come together to form a FORMIDABLE entity dat can confront any eventual evaders in those days. The history of how we had featured as part of Ilofa before our recent relocation to our ANCESTRAL home land will be told later.”
