Greetings my Nairaland people. This forum and section have been very instrumental to my progress and so I decided to bring this here to ask for your opinions.

On Sunday evening, my girlfriend said she was craving sharwama and pleaded I get it for her. I live in a busy area and there's this Sharwama stand directly opposite my house. So I stepped out to get it. I was shocked with the large crowd I saw there. I asked one of the workers there how much it costs and they said 2,500. Quite an increment from the last time at 1,800. So I handed him my card, made payments and he asked me to wait for 10 minutes.

Since I lived closeby, I decided to reach my house before returning back. I came back 10 minutes later only to he told my order was given to someone else who was in a haste. After venting my frustration and anger, I sat down to wait to avoid stories. As I sat there, I couldn't but notice the amount of people who trooped to the place.

As I received my order and was going home, the whole thoughts filled my head. Is the sharwama business really that profitable? In my whole area there's just this guy here and another down down the road.

I had some serious thoughts that night. I started thinking about setting up one early next year and making consultations. But I want to get an idea from anyone in the business here. My location is Port Harcourt.

With the current state of the economy, is Sharwama business a good investment? I would like to open a stand in a busy area and possibly start small by employing one worker. I work online and this is my first shot at starting a physical business.

Please, I would like to get your opinions on this, especially considering the current Nigerian business climate. Abi I should just continue to save up my funds for Japa? I'm still a young man.

Also, let me know of a budget to set up a stand and begin operations. I would appreciate your kind responses.

What works for him might not work for you or the person you want to open the business for. He's probably selling well and fast because he's good at making it and always available for those who have shawarma cravings. Other factors will definitely be at play as well. Customers love stability and proven service over a while.

However, if you feel like you've got what it takes, go ahead.
