Rev. Josiah Akindayomi's Miraculous Return: A Tale of Forgiveness and Eternal Redemption

Let me share a remarkable story about Rev. Josiah Olufemi Akindayomi, the founder of the Redeemed Christian Church of God. This great man of God, Rev. Josiah O. Akindayomi, was quite unique. You see, there was a time when he actually died but then came back to life. Now, that's quite something, right? But there's more to this story than just the miraculous return to life; there's a valuable lesson we can all learn from it. So, grab a seat, and let's dive in.

In the early 1980s, Rev. Josiah Akindayomi fell seriously ill. His church members and elders gathered to pray for his recovery. But, interestingly, he asked them to stop praying. He believed that they were preventing something that needed to happen. Sadly, in the middle of October that year, he passed away. His wife discovered his lifeless body.

Here's where it gets really captivating. Just as she was about to break the tragic news, something incredible happened. Rev. Josiah came back to life and began sharing a most unusual experience. He found himself in a beautiful place, with a well-kept garden, and an elderly man confronted him. This old man insisted that he had to return to where he came from.

However, Rev. Josiah was so captivated by the splendor of this place that he begged not to go back. The old man showed him some exquisite clothing, meant for him, but said he couldn't wear them until he forgave Rev. Timothy Oshokoya, the founder of Apostolic Faith Church Nigeria, who was then a pastor and this is where things get interesting.

You see, 28 years before this incident, Rev. Josiah had come across a tract from Apostolic Faith Church and reprinted it for evangelism without knowing about copyright issues. He was confronted by the leaders of the church, he was found guilty, and the remaining tracts were destroyed. This brought him immense pain, loss, and shame, and he harbored a deep grudge in his heart.

However, when he returned from this otherworldly experience, the first thing he did was write a letter of forgiveness to Rev. Timothy Oshokoya, telling him that he had forgiven him. Shortly after this act of forgiveness, Rev. Josiah passed away peacefully.

What lessons did you learn from this incredible story? Are you holding onto a grudge or harboring unforgiveness in your heart? Rev. Josiah’s story reminds us that it's just not worth it. An act of unforgiveness can have eternal consequences. So, let's take a lesson from Rev. Josiah and choose forgiveness over grudges. Forgiveness is a path to a more peaceful and fulfilling life.
