Cameroon's women stunned African champions Nigeria on penalties to clinch a place at next year's Olympics.

The second leg of the qualifier in Yaounde on Saturday ended 2-1 to Cameroon to make it 3-3 on aggregate.

With no goals in extra time it was down to spot kicks to decide the winners.

Both sides failed with their third penalties - Cameroon scored their next two but Faith Ikidi missed Nigeria's final attempt to send the Indomitable Lionesses to London.

The hosts took the lead in the 29th minute through Edoa Zouga and then doubled their lead moments before half time with a Christine Mani penalty.

Nigeria's Osinachi Ohale was sent off for the foul that lead to the spot kick.

The Super Falcons then scored in the 75th minute through Francisca Ordega to make it 3-3 on aggregate and send the game into extra time.

Despite pressing for a winning goal the Nigerians could not find the target and so the game went to penalties.

The 4-3 loss in the shoot out means this will be the first time that Nigeria have not made it to the Olympics since the 2000 games in Sydney.

The second leg was delayed in order to allow Cameroon to take part in the All Africa Games in Mozambique, where they won gold.

South Africa claimed Africa's other spot at the Olympics last month thanks to a 4-1 aggregate win over Ethiopia.

The effect of Siasia's on the super eagles is now affecting our remaining national teams. I will not be surprise if the dream team are also knock out of the race for the olympic ticket. RIP Nigeria football.

Abachas era was more successful to Nigerian football as regards badgoodluck that we called our leader that brings notin other than bad luck.

When you rush to call people dumb, think about it fully. Anyway you live in the US, so I can understand
Actually when a coach does not perform and he is retained like people want us to retain Siasia, why should others fear for their jobs
Indeed, Siasia admitted on channelstv that his contract requires him to qualify for the nations cup.
Why did he sign the contract?
Because he knows that
 Contracts and promises are worthless in Nigeria
 "smart" people like you who would say "it does not matter etc"
  And we can sack a coach who delivers on ALL 3 contract assignments and retain the one who fails on both
  Blood is thicker than water - GEJ will not be able to explain to Bayelsans why he allowed Siasia to be sacked

So which competition do we have left?

At least we can now face WAFU competitions where we HOPE to QUALIFY

You dolt! No matter how terrible the NFF leadership is, the ultimate responsibility falls on Siasia. He failed at his assigned task of qualifying us for the Nations Cup. He failed Nigerians in his promise to re-invigorate the ageing team with young and vibrant players (he still largely stuck with the same old faces).
Siasia has never recorded any success at the senior team level, as the Nigerian clubs that engaged his services found out to their regret. He is not the 'messiah' we seek.

What do u expect in a system of man know man. We need to build from scratch. Infact we need fifa to ban us for at least 2years and let's see how those our big boys supereagles rating will be in their clubs.

Why are we blaming the government fo4 a failed football federation? The country is getting what it deserves. Why is the government so in bed with the NFF.

Do you hear Obama being blamed for us team or brown for uk success or failure.

The NFF should be a minor government supported (but not controlled) sports arm of the ministry of sports.

The ministry of sports should sanction the local premier league. Set up 36 teams one from each state. And get private sponsored for each. Set up a company to own the league ( not government) like MLS (USA) each team gets to redraft players. Players get paid based on their rank in their position ( the league will have a master salary table) all transfers have to be sanctioned by the league and all sale of players to international teams have to be sanctioned that way they can help subsidise teams in small markets. Make Saturday local league day and charge between N100 to N500 per game . Raise more funds by selling drinks food and have a family only section where kids pay half price and there is extra security. That way you gets families to come out.

Have each team have a junior (14-18) and a minor (9-14) team to help groom future players. Each league will have an affiliated school for the junior and minor league to help the students learn while they play. Only prodigies will be allowed to play the minor and junior leagues. And each team must have players from at least 10 states at any given time.

This should be a good start.
