Akpoazaa Group Plans Event As Anglican Communion Mourns Rev Canon Nneji in Okija by Iconfirm002: 7:03pm On Oct 13, 2023
In a heartfelt ceremony held on October 12, 2023, the Anglican Communion mourned the passing of Reverend Canon Peter Nneji from Village Ubahuagboba Ubahu Okija in Ihiala Local Government Area of Anambra state. The solemn service took place at the Basilica of St. Peter’s Okija, where an assembly of mourners, clergy, and distinguished guests paid their respects to the late clergyman.

Leading the congregation was Most Rev NDUBUISI Obi, the Bishop of Nnewi Diocese, alongside several other bishops, Archdeacons, and over 200 clergies, all gathered to honor the life and legacy of Rev Canon Peter Nneji. Among the mourners were his grieving wife and their children: Prince Nneji, Dr. Ifeanyi Nneji, Prof Lotanna Nneji, and Miss Amaka Nneji, who shared in the collective sorrow.

The event, impeccably organized by the renowned Akpoazaa Group, an award-winning Anambra-based event planner, was a testament to their expertise. Not only did they transform the surroundings into a beautifully decorated and carefully arranged graveyard, providing a fitting resting place for the departed soul, but they also extended their sympathy to the bereaved family. Their gesture, presenting a condolence with some amount along with a cow rope, known as “Ogbu ehi,” served to register their sympathy and support.

The emotional procession was conducted with utmost reverence, with the casket bearing Rev Canon Peter Nneji's remains carried by Apams Funeral Undertakers, an established name in funeral services. Their solemn procession mirrored the somber mood of the occasion, evoking a sense of respect and reverence.

Additionally, the event garnered widespread attention, thanks to the comprehensive coverage by the Anambra Broadcasting Service (ABS). The ABS team ensured that the funeral ceremony was broadcasted to a wider audience, allowing those unable to attend to pay their respects from afar.

The heartfelt tributes, the presence of dignitaries, and the meticulous planning by Frank Igbojindu CEO Akpoazaa Group created an atmosphere of deep respect and commemoration. Reverend Canon Peter Nneji was laid to rest at his home church, St Stephen’s Anglican Church Okija, where his memory will continue to be cherished by the Anglican community he served faithfully.

In this moment of loss, Ndi Anambra, friends, and well-wishers came together to bid farewell to a beloved clergyman, expressing their gratitude for his life and mourning his passing with dignity and grace. The legacy of Rev Canon Peter Nneji lives on in the hearts of those he touched, and the beautifully orchestrated funeral service provided a fitting tribute to his enduring impact on the lives of many.
