Nwude used skillful trickery to entice Sakaguchi to invest in this alleged business by offering him significant returns on his investment. Sakaguchi gave in to the temptation of huge gains, and over the course of several years, he moved about $242 million to a number of bank accounts that Nwude and his associates managed.

But in the end, the complex con job fell apart, and Nwude was imprisoned in 2004. He was sentenced to 25 years in jail in 2005 after being charged with money laundering, conspiracy, and fraud.
