Hello friends, This is Fortune, your favourite artist and graphic designer cheesy

I'd like to share my journey as beginner painter with you. Many of you has seen my pencil drawing gallery and my mind blowing graphic designs and I saw it well to share my paintings too.

I've been passionate about art all my life, and really love drawing since childhood. I have never really painted until I got to art school recently where we do various artworks and I began developing strong interest in painting which I would like to major in the unit when the time comes. It wasn't that easy at first but I eventually get to do better at it.

You can check some of my artworks on my social media handles >>> Instagram,

So, here's my first attempt on painting. It's a Still life of of fruits. It was the worst painting in the class that day โ€” the smallest and the ugliest. ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚

At the end of the class, my lecturer told me I've done a very good painting, but I should repeat it. I took the shot of the composition in front of me, went home and did the second painting. Both were don with poster colours.

By this time, I feel the need to make a meaning with my art no matter how bad it seem, so I called this one "Sprout in Calmness"

The painting illustrates a calm plantain tree which seems Loney in a filed but looks calm and growing well. And this show us there is a kind of power, strength and growth with being calm. One can overcome a tough situation/person by being calm. One can use calm words to overcome an angry person.

"water is the softest thing, yet it can penetrate mountains and earth. This shows clearly the principles of softness overcoming hardness"

I called this one "Save the trees", because they will save you later.

"Trees give off oxygen that we need to breathe. Trees reduce the amount of storm water runoff, which reduces erosion and pollution in our waterways and may reduce the effects of flooding. Many species of wildlife depend on trees for habitat. Trees provide food, protection, and homes for many birds and mammals." โ€” www.bgky.com

I painted this in July as part of my CA.

It's a white Lilly on a dark background. Also, it's my first time with acrylic paints.
I title it "Hope โ€”even in the valley." I will paint it again digitally and this time more realistically too.

The dark background represents is the valley which represents tough times, while the Lilly represents a desperate person. the dim light at the top left corner of the painting represents hope.

The Lilly who is desperate seem to be yearning for hope even in the valley of difficulties that it is in. The Lilly seem to be sprouting with strength, as can be seen in its curve, and joyfulness, as can be seen in its white flower. It is still happy and expectant of a bright future as it endures the hardships it is going through because hope is seeing light in spite of being surrounded by darkness.

Potentials
Acrylic on paper (15x12 inches)
September 2023

So I came home one day and saw this JW brochure with a seedling image captioned "Dey Patient". I was inspired with by the image and decided to paint it. I however called the painting "Potentials".

A seedling as an example has a potential which can either been fostered or hindered. The farmer or caretaker can make every effort to make sure the young plant grow big to be useful to mankind in the future thereby actualising its potential. The farmer/caretaker or an enemy may still decide to kill the plant it Its young stage thereby hindering it's potential from coming to pass.

Well this artwork is really not about a plant or seedling as it is illustrated. It's about human beings. Every young child has a potential in life which can be fostered by providing support for that child's dream as soon as his parents/caretakers notice it so as to actualise that child's dream. It can also be hindered because of some evil reason which may result to damaging the child's potential.

One can also strive to bring his dream to pass with passion.
Zig Ziglar wrote: 'When you catch a glimpse of your potential, that's when passion is born". Discover your God-given purpose, fuell it by passion, and strive for it through persistence and that's how your potential can be actualised.

Polo G, one of my favourite rappers in his song, deep wounds, raps "...So much potential in the life these niggas threw away..." That could be the nigga giving up on his own potential or his caretaker undervalued his potential to provide support. A farmer may undervalue a seed while planting and "throw it away" but that seed might grow to be the mightiest of all trees if circumstances allowed it to grow where it was thrown. Even the Bible quotes "The Stine the builders rejected became the corner stone".

Will you give up on your potential or you will let it manifest? The choice is yours.
