Yunusa Tanko, the chief spokesperson for the Obi-Datti Presidential Campaign Organisation, has refuted allegations that Peter Obi misrepresented his late brother’s academic certificate from the University of Nigeria.


Tanko issued this rebuttal in a statement released in Abuja on Monday. He criticized the Lamidi Apapa faction of the Labour Party for their efforts to tarnish Obi's image before the Nigerian electorate.


In a recent interview on AIT News, Abayomi Arabambi, the spokesperson for the Labour Party faction, raised concerns about discrepancies in the academic certificates of the former Anambra governor.


The controversy over Obi's certificate mirrors the ongoing debate surrounding President Bola Tinubu's Chicago State University certificate. Obi and his Peoples Democratic Party counterpart, Atiku Abubakar, have challenged the authenticity of the president's submitted credentials to the Independent National Electoral Commission.
