Imo State Governor, Rochas Okorocha, will today, sign a new minimum wage of N20,000 with the organised Labour in the state at the state secretariat along Portharcourt Road, Owerri.

In a statement by the Special Assistant, Media (Print) to Governor Okorocha, Ebere Uzoukwa yesterday said the gesture to the state workers represented a substantial increase in the N18,000 national minimum wage approved by the Federal Government.

According to him, it also demonstrated Governor Okorocha’s commitment to the upliftment of the welfare of workers and to further motivate them towards living up to expectation in their responsibility to ensure that government policies and programmes were effectively implemented.

Okorocha who had earlier expressed that N18,000 minimum wage approved by the Federal Government was grossly inadequate to be regarded as living wage, promised to pay above the national minimum wage in Imo State.
Also, the recent report released by the Nigerian Governors Forum (NGF) rated Imo among 15 healthy states in Nigeria that could pay minimum wage and embark on capital projects owing to the prudent financial management policy of Governor Okorocha.

Apart from the N20,000 minimum wage, Governor Okorocha had equally approved the construction of 15km of roads in each of the 27 LGAs, construction of European standard schools in each of the 305 INEC wards in the state as well as other ongoing capital projects initiated by his administration.

What are we saying?
All those thieves called governors can't pay minimum wage because there won't be enough for them to steal.

I hail you, Rochas!

Its obvious this is the best governor in the country. He has embarked on a pattern of govt that topples the common sense of economics. During the kerosene crises, he bought 100k litres of kerosene to be sold at N50 but at the venue of selling, he simply made it a free gift.

Its a pity that such a man wants to be president tomorrow, the masses will be divided along ethnic and religious lines even though he has a free school in the north. God will see us through.

I'm a bona fide citizen of Imo State, I am in a better position to tell u what's going on in Imo state, Gov Rochas okorocha is indeed trying in the aspect of cutting down excess unneccesary government expenses. But he has not done really good in implementing and actualizing up to 80% of his promises. My mum is a civil servant. Ever since he took over as governor, my mum have never gotten her salary as at when due, they continue moving frm one screening to another. September salary was just paid few days ago, Moreover why did he even allow the state NUC To embark on a strike on this issue since he knew he can pay it and even pay extra, My little sister is in one of the government schools, She paid her school fees last term and no money was refuded despite the Governors directive. This term the boarding fee has just been increased. He promised them books, uniform and allowances and they are yet to be paid, A lot of things are really going wrong, Owerri which used to be the cleanest city is now in its old sorry state, 80% of Imo roads are gone, I just pity the man and prays he get his steps right.

Let him work on infrastructure, i think that's more important to the state than this, Infrastructure would not only woo investors, but would also create Job opportunities for the common man.

Mr bonafide how many salaries does your mum receive. Do you realise how much Imo is now saving through verification of the thousands of ghost workers discovered in the Imo civil service?
The Gov has declared that he wants to compete with any Gov in Nigeria who thinks he can suppass his achievements after one year.
Report the school principal who failed to refund school fees as instructed by the Gov to the authorities, you can even petition the commissioner for education to intervene.
Would you rather want to have the OTONDO 1 of Abia State T.A. Orji in place of Okorocha?

Anyone who has followed his past activities shld really not be suprised. He has proven to be a man of gud heart towards humanity, especially the less priviledged. But then, he shld as a matter of urgency start building durable infrastructure and help in whaterver way he can to create employment opportunities 4 the gud people of Imo state.

People that are already established in life and now see politics as an avenue to serve the people and help the less previledged are the ones that are supposed to be elected in power.I am not surprised that Rochas is doing all these. He has the track record.Okorocha ride on!!.We are proud of u.
