There is disquiet In the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) over the non-appointment of various support groups who worked for the emergence of President Bola Tinubu in the 2023 general elections.

Credible sources in the party informed QUEST TIMES that the national leadership of the party, led by the national chairman, Abdullahi Ganduje are worried by the development and will meet the president on the issue.

Our correspondent gathered that since President Tinubu was sworn-in on May, he has not deem it fit to show appreciation in words or consider them for appointment in his cabinet.

Some of the groups are the South West Agenda for Asiwaju 2023 (SWAGA’23); Tinubu-Shetima Ambassadors (TSA); Asiwaju Tinubu-Shettima Coalition for Good Governance which was led by a former Minister of Communication, Adebayo Shittu; Asiwaju Project Beyond 2023 amongst others.


According to our source, the withdrawal of the nomination of 24-year-old Imam Kashim Imam, who was recently appointed as the Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Federal Roads Maintenance Agency is a clear indication that many of the appointees didn't contribute anything to Tinubu’s emergence.


" There is anger within the party over the appointments made by the president. Many of the support groups who laboured day and night and sold Tinubu to Nigerians even before he declared interest to run are not considered. This was the same thing the former first lady, Aisha Buhari complained about in 2016 when he said Buhari doesn't know 90 percent of his appointees".

"I agree with those who are angry about what I'd happening because it is frustrating when you laboured in the sun and rain to prepare a good meal but when the food is ready, people who didn't know how the meal came about are taking centre stage while you are pushed aside".

When contacted, a member of the party’s National Working Committee (NWC) who spoke on condition of anonymity pleaded with the party members to be patient, saying the president will reward them.

" All I can say is that they should be patient. Not everyone can be appointed but President Tinubu is a leader who doesn't forget people's labour. He will reward them in due course" he said.
