President Bola Ahmed Tinubu says preventing Nigeria’s collapse necessitated the removal of subsidy on petrol.

Recall that on assuming office, Tinubu, in his inauguration speech, pronounced fuel subsidy “gone.”

This however triggered an increase in the petrol pump price, causing nationwide hardship as inflation occurred.

Speaking on Friday when he hosted a delegation of Muslim leaders from the south-western part of the country at the Aso Rock villa, Tinubu said the removal of the subsidy has caused hardship but the situation would get better.

“It is about our future. We must guarantee our future. Almighty Allah will not give us a burden that we cannot bear.

“He has put us here for a purpose. It may look difficult; even rough, but it will get better. We avoided it (removing the subsidy) for 40 years. We are all going through the pain now, but for Nigeria not to collapse, we had to remove the subsidy.

“In the history of successful nations, there is nothing more vital than the leadership of a nation taking difficult decisions at the right time and for the right reasons.

“There would have been no money for the sub-nationals,” Ajuri Ngelale, Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity quoted Tinubu as saying.

Tinubu said his administration is putting in the work to ensure that the country’s economy gets better.

“We have to believe in one country; we have to believe in Nigeria. We will do our best, and our economy will get better for the benefit of Nigerians,” he said.

“I am very sure of that, and we are putting in the work to ensure that.”

Tinubu is alive and healthy to defend his forged certificate and has all it takes to sue CSU but he chose to care not and people are defending him. Let's forget his subsidy removal without plans.

Stop talking...you talk too much

Start taking actions

Can't you do like the way Soludo did to reform banking sector?

We need this kind of visible actionable reforms in the Agric sector

Indeed Tinubu have no idea of what presidency is all about. The man lacks vision and insight. So daft

In a democratic setting, you do not need to have a meaningful goal or plan for the people, you just need to have the right supporters. With the right supporters you can get away with almost anything.

Tinubu should stop commenting on this fuel matter.

And one thing I can promise you is Nigeria will continue to get worse with each passing day.

It will continue to get worse until the year the sitting president will call for a referendum to chart a new course for the country.

Starting with a new constitution, new and strong institutions, etc.

That we've not made meaningful progress in 63+ years should tell us we're not doing things the right way.

But if na this present Nigeria with this present system, we'll still be having this same conversation in 2031. Nigeria no fit just better, no matter how you sugarcoat it

In all, I'm super glad that that lying, twitter blogger did not emerge.

His failure would have been triple of Bulava.

Goatluck and his supporters were not bold and courageous.

Despite all the arrows and swords thrown at Tinubu, despite all strives and after strives by the politicalized NLC, Tinubu has remained steadfast. His focus is on the goal, the struggles, pains, insults and attacks on him will not shake him. That's what we call a leader, not a weak dummy like Goatluck Jonaddaft

So Jonathan and okonjo iweala that removed it in 2012 were not saving Nigeria.

It seems igbos are like 50 years ahead of Nigeria, what igbos see now, it takes the rest of Nigeria minimum of 15 years to see it

Subsidy hasn't gone.

Otherwise fuel would have been over the 800 naira mark.

Tinubu just did the same old partial removal trick that has been done since before I was born.

Total removal of subsidy is a mirage.

APC takes decisions that would get them elected, not benefit Nigeria in the long run
Re: “we Removed Fuel Subsidy To Prevent Nigeria’s Collapse” – Tinubu by jaytimeo: 1:10pm On Oct 22, 2023
You removed it for selfish interest so you guys can keep up with your 5 star lifestyle and the poor can go and die , cos you would have instead removed pension for past and present governors , senators money spent on governance,no new MDAs buying of brand new cars and useless trips overseas with no immediate economic benefits would have been scrapped to keep subsidy.

What you guys did not understand is that subsidy was the stimulating factor of our economy, inflation and austerity erases the middle class and slows down the economy and might possibly collapse the economy, una think say nah the poor una wan do you would end up doing yourself,it’s an eco system if you don’t get it forget about it.

Your comment hit the nail on the head.

The fuel subsidy became unsustainable due to the inherent corruption & inefficiencies associated with it.

What a honest government would have done is tackle those factors that have made it unsustainable.

Imagine a president saying fuel subsidy thieves met him to take his share, but he refused. Rather than prosecute the economic saboteurs, he cowardly shifted the burden to the masses.

He maintained the exchange rate at N150-180 for years. Africa fastest growing economy and largest, GDP increased. Go to Google and see the chart.

Yet u have the guts to call him weak angry yet he performed far far better than Emilokan predecessor, and currently Emilokan is far far behind far worse than his predecessor

Dollar getting to 10k naira to a $ under his watch

Poor getting poorer increasing in numbers

While politicians keep getting fatter by Looting and embezzlement more under your man.

Immediately your party entered everything began to nosedive. Like an aircraft crashing.

Let your man turn things around na what is stopping him? Borrow borrow everywhere

See your mouth like goatluck. May God have mercy on your soul.
