AKWA IBOM GOVT, SONGHAI INITIATIVE, SEAL DEAL ON MODEL FARM

In furtherance of the Agricultural revolution plan as contained in the ARISE Agenda, Akwa Ibom State Government has sealed an agreement with Songhai Initiative for a model farm in the State.

Speaking at a brief ceremony at the Government House, Uyo, the State Governor, Pastor Umo Eno said the farm will help showcase agricultural potential of the State, create employment opportunities, and serve as a training ground for agripreneurs.

He said the State was ready and before long, will officially flag-off the project at its official site.

Governor Umo Eno commended the Director- General of Songhai Initiative, Fr. Godfrey Nzamujo and his team for the good job done in Porto-Novo, Benin Republic and expressed hope that the initiative will be replicated in Akwa Ibom.

It would be recalled that the State had earlier in August 2023 signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Songhai Initiative for the management of a model farm in the State which has culminated into the formal agreement to flag-off the project.

In his remarks, the regional representative of Songhai Initiative, Mr. Andre Thierry assured that they were ready and committed to the terms of the agreement and promised that the project will be successfully implemented in the State.

At the event were the Secretary to the State Government, Prince Enobong Uwah, the Attorney- General and Commissioner for Justice, Uko Udom (SAN), Commissioners for Agriculture - Dr. Offiong Offor, Economic Development and Budget, Hon Emem Bob, Lands, Captain Iniobong Ekong, Works and Fire Service, Prof Eno Ibanga, Acting Director, Directorate of Agric Investment, Mr. Ofonmbuk Nelson, Team lead of Ibom-LED, Pastor Imo-Abasi Jacob, Chairman of Maintain Peace Movement, Barr. Emmanuel Enoidem, Prof Okon Ansa, Prof Trenchard Ibia and others.

Another project set up to fail like the others before it. Songhai model partnerships with state governments in Nigeria is a 419 activity. That Reverend father is not different from Hushpuppy, coming to scam Nigerian governors of a partnership arrangement to replicate his model everytime. Deep inside him, he knows this won't work but persists anyway, because of the money involved.
Apart from Lagos, Songhai farms are in Katsina, Rivers, Enugu, Delta and Ebonyi states, but they are largely unsuccessful due to poor management and government neglect.
Governor Eno should know better.
