My thoughts on akara and bread buisness.

I hear people saying that the biz is lucrative. But i can remember that 3-4 shops i usually see selling akara are no longer at that spot i use to see dem.

What might have happened?
Did the buisness fall?
Am i the only person that use to notice dis kind of things concerning akara vendors?

Beans and vegetable oil have become too expensive, so they no longer make much profit.
Coupled with the fact that akara sometimes soaks up oil if not well made.

If you want good tasting akara, you may have to make some yourself.

Hmmmmmmm nostalgic memory, back then 1 piece of akara goes for 1 naira and with 50 naira one can buy akara 20 naira, Koko, kunu (hausa pap) 30 naira then eat and drink to your satisfaction but now even 200# kosai (akara) can't go along.
Funny how times evolved but a true hustler shall grind.

Do you make akara for real? cheesy

If you do, and you want them to be tasty like those ones from akara sellers, add plenty of chopped onions (especially) and peppers, with salt to taste, before frying.
Also, make sure very little water is added to the beans while/after grinding.
You want the paste thick so that they don't soak up oil.

In all, the secret to a very tasty akara is a generous amount of onions.
It has nothing to do with firewood.
