Group to Tinubu: Call Sokoto Governor to order over financial recklessness

A group under the aegis of Tinubu for Real has called on President Bola Tinubu to caution the Governor of Sokoto State, Aliyu Ahmed from "further reckless spending of state resources on brand new foreign, luxurious cars for use as Taxis in Sokoto city".

Chairman of the group, Arc Isa Ibrahim, who gave the charge in Kaduna on Wednesday in a press release he issued to newsmen, described "the purchase of billions of Naira worth of luxury cars as both inconsiderate and economic waste, coming at a time millions of people in Sokoto cannot afford three square meals".

The group argued that the scarcity of badly-needed resources for infrastructure and health, among others in Nigeria, which "compelled President Tinubu to travel around the world in a vigorous search for Foreign Direct Investment, it's suicidal to see a governor wasting funds so flagrantly".

The group also called for the reprimand of the governor by President Tinubu, "in order to forestall further waste of taxpayers money in Sokoto State", describing Governor Aliyu's action as "setting a bad example, capable of portraying the current administration as condoning flamboyant, extravagant governors".

Ibrahim then noted in the statement: "Imagine Sokoto State Governor, Ahmad Aliyu purchasing hundreds of 2020/2021 foreign model Toyota Camry XSE to be used as taxis in Sokoto. Imagine also that One unit of these cars costs about N19.5 million, in this era of Naira in a free fall and difficulties running government due to limited resources! Is this arrogance of power of just misplacement of priorities? How many Sokoto citizens have food to eat and have extra funds for air-conditioned cars?"

The group also wondered why Governor Aliyu could not use the billions allegedly wasted on luxury cars to offer logistic support to security agencies in the State, to help recover the jaw-dropping number of Local Governments ruled by bandits".

The group then commended President Tinubu for "leaving no stone unturned in his tireless efforts to generate funds for revamping the national economy that has now been adjudged too weak, by economic experts".

They are birds of a feather .

Baba Bulaba himself is the king of ridiculous spending. How can he call his boy to order?

The problem with Nigerians is that they will rather vote for sentiment and tribe rather than ability and honesty. Let them reap the fruit of their labor.
