Someone just compared Ile Ife to Oguta.

See the thread here.

Weed!!!

All these delusional comparison should stop. No SW village stand a chance against a village in the SE.

Ife

This is the ancestral home of our Yoruba brothers, the second largest town in Osun after Osogbo and a univeristy town.

Yorubas can do better.

Oguta

This is Oguta, an unknown community in Imo State, if not for the Oguta lake.

It's not even in the top 10 largest towns in Imo state.

Yorubas don't believe in fixing their village homes because they don't have reasons to travel home, but the Igbos do. So, it's only natural that Igbo villages will always look better. It's just a culture thing.

So why can't they fix their towns then?

Look at how unsightly Ile Ife, Ibadan, Osogbo, Abeokuta, Ede, Saki are. What happens to fixing them.

Why can't they renovate their dilapidated buildings?

Again, Yorubas don't have reasons to travel home because they are all in Lagos, claiming Lagosian. I don't blame them because Lagos is their only hope to have something to show for.

The op is biased here. Not sure you even know Ile- Ife before. I'm sure you saw that video on the internet anf decided to post it. Yes, that's old side of Ile-Ife, its our heritage and can't deny it. Please go to some sites like Parakin, Ede road, Ibadan road, and etc and then come back here. There, you will see some houses and you would think you are in Ikoyi, VGC, Lekki, and etc. Lastly, please make a visit to Alex Duduyemi billion naira Mansion at Ibadan Road, which over 2 or 3 decades, and not sure you can find that anywhere in your village.

When I say that there is hardly any decent settlements in the SW outside Lagos, some people will think I'm trolling.

Whether it is cities, towns or villages, there is a world of difference between East and West. In the East, you have beautiful villages, towns and cities whereas in the West, what you see are slums as far as the eyes can see.

The earlier Yorubas realize there is a problem with their habitations, the better they could start solving them. Otherwise, they would wake up in 2035 and realize they're still stuck in stone age.

Ile Ife is even the second biggest settlement in Osun state and also has an old university. It can be easily compared to Nsukka in Enugu State in that aspect, yet it looks so rundown. Nsukka is far ahead of ile Ife.

Oguta is not even among the biggest settlements in Imo State. We have Owerri, Orlu, and Okigwe as major towns. Yet Oguta is far ahead of Ile Ife, despite not having a university like Ile Ife.

How some people survive in habitats that even pigs will struggle to live in, still baffles me.

awka is 523.2 km²
Oluyole Area is 629 km²

An area in Ibadan is bigger than a whole capital city.

There he goes again talking crap. What has area/size of landmass got to do with development?

In the East, we build multi storey buildings while in the West, you build shanties and bungalows. Building sprawling shanties and slums is evidence of poverty and backwardness, nothing more.

Comparing Enugu (the most resilient city in Nigeria and top 35 in the world) to Ibadan is an insult to Ndi Enugu.

Comparing Onitsha, a city that was razed down during the war to Ibadan is another insult to Ndi Onitsha.

I'll compare Aba and Ibadan.

If you are ready, then let's compare the two cities based on aerial videos of where typical residents live, the city centers, indigenous industries, private and state government projects, not FG, State and private universities, non-FG power generation projects, and markets and malls.

If you're ready, then quote me, let's do Aba vs Ibadan.
