Group Faults Sanwo-Olu Over Failure To Appoint Ndigbo

An Igbo group under the aegis of Concerned Igbo Elites (CIE) has cried out over the non-representation of Ndigbo in the government of Lagos State.

The group made their position known after examination, verification and scrutinization of the cabinet formation of the Government of Babajide Sanwo-Olu.

In a statement made available to the media on Thursday, November 16, 2023, the group decried what they called a misnomer calculated at marginalizing the Igbo in Lagos.

The group made it clear that Ndigbo in Lagos are are not happy considering the cordial relationship existing between the Igbo and the Yoruba in Lagos especially since 1999, when the former Governor of Lagos State, now President, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, was in power.

The group maintained that such cordiality and peaceful coexistence between the two groups which have been the hallmark of the host and her visitors which have been jealously guided should not be thwarted for any reason.

Coordinator of the group, Aji Ibe said his group is surprised that no person of Igbo extraction is found in the current government of Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, despite the struggle and efforts even at personal discomfort of some Igbo people in ensuring that the All Progressives Congress won Lagos and Nigeria at large.

Mr Ibe therefore called on the governor and the relevant stakeholders to halt what they call total marginalization of the Igbo in Lagos especially when viewed against the quantum of revenue which the Igbo add to the Internally Generated Revenue (IGR) of the State.

Ibe said “We are concerned and we are not happy. We have our illustrious sons and daughters in Lagos, especially somebody like Honourable Jude Idimogu, who has served the state in the Assembly for eight years as a lawmaker; we think that such a man should be compensated especially when you look at what he did for APC, he campaigned vigorously, organizing press conferences, town hall meetings and explaining APC manifesto to his kinsmen, he should be compensated. He should have been given something like commissioner or Senior Special Adviser, it is not too much for him. What we are saying is that such a position can still be created for him and others like him.

Hon. Idimogu through his brainchild network, Abundance Movement, was able to mobilse his constituents for Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu for Presidency and Babajide Sanwo-Olu, the number one Governor in Nigeria. He also played key role in so many other associations formed to mobilise support for Tinubu and Sanwo-Olu, such group as Igbokwenu for Asiwaju. Remember he also supported the election of Tinubu through Ohanaeze Ndigbo and other Igbo groups.

“He is not the only one, there are many Igbo people who worked for APC in this Lagos and across the nation, they should be appointed into Boards so as to give them a sense of belonging,” Ibe stated.

Secretary of the Group, Mazi Cyriacus Nnaji, a media practitioner, also spoke in condemnation of the serial marginalization of the Igbo in the government of Lagos. He said that there is no problem between the Igbo and the Yoruba.

He recalled what happened on the day of elections where a few individuals tried to cause trouble on both the side of the Igbo and the Yoruba due to differences in political opinions, but said such disagreements were subdued by the responsive interventions by people like Jude Idimogu.

Our people are being marginalized, many see this as an oversight but this is a serious oversight and should be reversed. The Igbo race is not a negligible population, I can tell you authoritatively that the Igbo are second only to the Yorubas in the population of Lagos and so, they should not be ignored. We are not taking Lagos from the Yoruba, God forbid that anybody should ever think along that line. What happened during the election was a misunderstanding between two friends who were opposed politically but not our Igbo.”

Fault Sanwo-Olu for not appointing igbos into Lagos state govt? Did I read this correctly or my eye is paining me?

So how many Yoruba has Alex appointed into Abia state govt? Is Lagos state no longer a glorified shitty hole?

How does this statement even make any sense? I thought Tinubu has emptied Lagos treasury into his bullion van? So where will Lagos get money to pay them. The Tinubu that appointed them into his cabinet, how did they pay him back.

Very funny pipu. grin

You see them?

Tinubu caused this menace. He started the idea of putting them into his cabinet in the name of inclusivity not knowing their entitlement nature.

Igbos really need to watch this attitude of theirs.

Give them an inch, they will go a mile and be planning to topple the government in power.

Tinubu is the most liberal governor Nigeria ever had, yet the ibos hate him so much from Anambra to Oyo. Well, I am happy that things have changed now.

They are no different from any other tribe in Lagos. They won't get any special treatment. If the clowns like, they should go and report Sanwo to amadioha in their red mud villages cheesy

Just look at the idiots dropping the names of APC ibos in Lagos and begging Sanwo to give them appointments. The same bridge building ibos they Igbos frequently call efulefu. grin

Those group are mad. Yes they're mad! Is Lagos State not like every other Indegenous states of Nigeria where everyone are entitled to appointment their kinsmen? In the East or at best igboland how many Yorubas has been appointed in any of the six States of the southeast presently or in the past cos we have lived above pettiness of tribalism in this part of Nigeria, southwest precisely but our good gesture has been misunderstood for stupidity. The last election exposed how the igbos have been misunderstanding our hospitality for cowardice but now we say enough of that and we are more than ready to walk the talk.

When you have appoints yorubas in critical capacity in ur States for at least 10yrs then we will reconsider our stance and shit the ground but for now u guys should perish the idea.

If need be igbos who wants appointment should go back to their various states where they came from to seek greener pastures here. Meanwhile, igbos aren't the only migrant in Lagos, there are many other ethnic groups similar to the igbos but are not asking for what isn't in Lagos because they understood what they came here for in a foreign land. It's only the igbos that call Lagos a no man's land. Why is it so? Is it a sign that the igbo people are dominant in nature ?

Anyways, my candid advise is u guys should make East a home where u visit regularly though Lagos can serve as second home but while u live amongst us, u should conduct urself and respect ur host communities where u have ur house erected of rented apartments.

Thank you, we all remain one Nigerian in spirit always! ❤️ And peace ✌️

Yorubas have always been the cause of their own problems with the Igbos, always trying to form accomodating isonu grin

It was the Yorubas that quickly took them back after the war and integrated them into the society and did everything to make them comfortable, today the Yoruba is their biggest enemies because they wanted more.

I saw a video about how the Yorubas were celebrating after the war, promising heaven on earth to the Igbos and how they can't wait to receive the Igbos back and I shook my head. In a way I think Yorubas truly deserve all the hates and insults they are getting from the Igbos because we can see how they fear and respect the Northerners that always put them where they belong.

Ibos are hated all over the world for a reason. One would think they are the only non-yoruba tribe living in Lagos.

This is one of the reason they are getting killed and flogged in South Africa, India, Afghanistan, Hong Kong e.t.c

Generally to an average Igbo man, act of goodwill is a sign of cowardice.

Their parents called Yorubas cowards because they were too nice and accommodating, the children are presently calling Yorubas cowards too, let's see what their next generation will call Yorubas

PIGs don't even know what is obtainable.

Same IGBOs are calling for a referendum so that they can leave you in PEACE and Happiness in your Worthless NIGERIA.

Same IGBOs have never asked for representation in OYO..OGUN..EKITI..OSUN.. KWARA..ONDO. All those areas are celebrated Slums and pigstys.

Most of the commentators above are not even from LAGOS, but every idiot will be claiming Lagosian because they are so afraid of IGBO commercial and property Dominance.

The Question should be this...

Why the UNITY BEGGING, when the same people will rather leave you PIGs and have their own COUNTRY?..

Why?
