Your new mantra of election having consequences does it apply to your 5 Igbo state or only the FG because from 1999 till date Alaigbo suppose don turn into Malaysia at least. If you have been making the right choices. Malaysia only came to Nigeria for palm oil we all know where they are now. We are all alive when n how Dubai started. Peterobi90: 1 Like 1 Share |

Bizibi: Nigeria economy is bad because alot of money that needs to go around from the genuinely rich and corruptly rich are being used to chase dollar speculations and stacking/storage for a gain, but with this recapitalization, banks that helped them in this "buy low, sell high/stacking" adventure will now go back to them and be begging them for Naira to help increase the capital of their bank or they go into extinction or merger. Mind you that those so called bankers are also part of the big speculators, let them bring their gains out to recapitalize their business and not to be betting on dollars gain/Naira fall venture. The lesson from this would teach all us that extremism is evil. Infact, Cardoso should please make this recapitalization big and fast abeg. 4 Likes |

Cmeo:yes let them bring their gains.....they posted gains from the fx so that shouldn't be a problem for most of them.I pray the share price doesn't drop. This policy will expose some of them..... |

I just feel that if the economy naturally generates incremental value, the banks would naturally respond to the stimuli of increased financial opportunities by sourcing for more equity fund to finance the increasing investments/productivity. This one looks like a forced recapitalization and we may end up with 1. Idle/inefficient use of equity cash for barely productive purposes 2. Scarce money that is supposed to be used to finance generative projects and citizens' enterprising initiatives that will produce actual value will be mopped out of the system and given to banks seeking fresh capital. I won't be surprised if banks convert the excess cash received to funding Nigerian politicians' ambitions instead . Inefficient allocation and use of resources 2 Likes |

Bizibi: If their share price drop, they invited it. Firstly, the bank executive/owners and key members of the board are the highest shareholders in most cases and they are also the benefactors of the naira crash too. After all they have played and enjoyed their roles, let Cardoso plays and enjoy his roles too as their capitalizations setter nah, not everyone would be like Emeleife 3 Likes |

FUGAZ banks will survive as usual, major issue now is for the mid range and low rank banks to see what they can do. I see mergers coming up 3 Likes |

Professor Emeritus Charles Chukwuma Soludo the Solution did this in mid 2000, that was what saved the country from the global meltdown. I know because I was in the banking industry then, and Soludo has been working closely with Emilokan Tinubu's government because Tinubu continues to drag Soludo and Elumelu to work with him. Thank you current CBN governor and Finance Minister, Olayemi Cardoso and Wale Edun respectively for not being too proud to work with other experienced professionals in Banking and Finance. 2 Likes 1 Share |

Cmeo:Your analysis is not right. To your mind, if Banks were asked to recapitalised, Those hoarding dollars will bring it out to reinvest right? The same way you guys said when Subsidiary is removed and Forex is allow to float, Naira will appreciate. Six months down the line, what's the outcome? 2 Likes |

Odidigboigbo: Forex floating and subsidy remover are not just the two things that would make the economy better. Things musr be done across board, and there are some things that are important more than the others, one of them is subsidy remover and naira floating. However, time will tell |

Cmeo:Yes, your are right that there are a lot of things to be done to put the economy in a proper shape BUT recapitalisation is not one of them in this material time that our economy is in shambles. Reason being that a lot of jobs will be lost. In this country, we like doing this without putting the adverse effect of our actions into consideration and putting a measure to cushion the effect. |

Peterobi90: Indeed, this announcement is the most definite proof that Nigeria is bankrupt at this moment. What they want to do is forcefully compel the banks to attract Dollars through foreign partnership. 1 Like |

How come the people that wrecked the economy are walking around freely and are well known? Instead, the government is begging them to release part of the stolen funds. Odidigboigbo: Recapitalization is definitely one of them. If your cooperatives are not meeting the aspiration of it's members to finance it's members monetary needs, what do you think such cooperative society needs? Definitely recapitalization i.e. to shore up it's capital by holding debtors well, get new members, bring in more fund anyway to meet it's members momentary needs nah. 1 Like |

Re: Fresh recapitalisation: Bank CEOs, others In merger, acquisition talks by Odidigboigbo(m): 1:26pm On Nov 26, 2023 |
Cmeo:Every here and then, almost all big cooperations sell shares, how many Nigerians do buy shares when they know fully within a short time, their shares will reduced in real value. I can bet you, if recapitalisation is announced today, 95% of commercial banks won't realise the capital from capital market. The big boys will continue to ball while the small players will be consumed. These are prayers of the big boys to to reduced competition. 1 Like |

Odidigboigbo: Nigerians were buying shares very well until they did exactly in the stock market what they are doing now in the forex market and then the crash of the stock market. If Nigerians didn't recapitalize them, let foreigners recapitalize their banks and take over ownership nah, that is what they brought upon themselves as a result of their speculation action for dollars against naira. They were able to escape running the stock market with their actions and want to do same in the money market and escape, it won't work. The chicken has just come home to roast. Large corporation o, small o, they will be forced to bring out their gains in fx speculation to up their capital or they share or lose the control of their banks. Emefelie was setting all of us up while thinking he was protecting them when he allowed them to be doing fx "buy low, sell high" marketing and they were happy, now that Yemi is telling them to go back and make their capital better they should be ready to do "invest in our business" marketing nah. The cross of it is it that it would be difficult for them to go back to average Nigeria that they have burnt their hands during their reins in stock market, so it is much more easier for them to go their fx speculative partners /shareholders and ask them to invest in their banks or they lost their banks. The reality is that it will affect all but it is important that we all learn our lessons. Cardoso should please bring this recapitalization fast, the faster he brings it, the faster exchange rate coming down 1 Like |

Re: Fresh recapitalisation: Bank CEOs, others In merger, acquisition talks by Cmeo(m): 7:14pm On Nov 26, 2023 |
emmaodet: Recapitalization is when you as a business person needs to add more capital into your business so as to help you meet your business goals and customers needs. Having more capital in your business will not make you to lose customers as you will have the goods they needed, help improve your sales and business. Doing these will help you as a businessman put your kids in better life, make you life a good life, help your brothers and other multipliers effects Let me remind you some of benefit of the precious recapitalization, It creates more jobs (contracts and permanent) in the banking sector, we see banks opening more branches, make them beg you to open an account with them, improve their power to borrow customers, businesses and even governments money etc. 2 Likes 2 Shares |
