What Should I Do To This Man That Scammed Me? by Edipet(m): 1:01pm On Dec 02, 2023
I own a gas retail shop, also run a POS business in it, one day this responsible looking man drove to my shop to make deposit, he didn't even come out from the car, he said he wants to deposit 60k, he stay inside the car to count and arrange the money. When he gave me the money , I discovered it was 58k, I told him sir the money is not complete and he did as if he didn't know, before he brought out 2k to make it the 60k., During the process he was telling me how he own a very big food stuff shop and a police officer too, tho I wasn't moved by what he said. At the end he took my number that he would be directing his boys to come and deposit money.
After like 2days, he called me to transfer money to the driver that is bringing his goods, that he would bring Cash to me when the would be passing through my shop to work (he said his house is just down the street) I told him i can't do such thing without seeing the Cash, he said okay and hangup the call.
After another 2days, he came back to send 1500 to someone, in the evening he called me that the person has not received the money, I told him the money has been sent and approved.
2days later he came back that he wants to make a deposit of 25k, I saw him counting the money and arranging it, I didn't know what came over me to foolishly typed the exact 25k on my Pos machine and sent to his account without confirming the cash, when he brought out the money from his car, I counted it and it was 10k, I told him sir this is 10k not 25k, he started searching his car and brought out 1k, making it 11k, I asked him to complete my money or he transfer back the balance to me, the Man started making call ( I didn't know if he was faking the call) after the call, he said the money Was in 2 boundle, a boundle of 10k and a boundle of 25k, that his boys mistakenly gave him the one of 10k instead of 25k, i should wait let him Rush down to get the money for me, he drove out with speed immediately, I was there till 8pm, I didn't see the man again, I called him he was telling me the next day that he would give it to me when he would be passing to work. Throughout that Monday, he was just passing through my Shop, he didn't care to Branch my shop to give me the money. The following morning, while i was searching for his number on my phone to call him, I saw him droved to my Shop, I thought he came to give me the money, I was surprised to hear him say I should loan him another 6k to make it 20k, that he has sent everything to the company supplying him goods and his contribution of 500k would be due coming Sunday, I should make it 20k that on Sunday he would give me with interest, I told him no, he should should return my money, I did not call him again till the next Sunday, when I called, he said the people did not give him the contribution money. since that day the man has been avoiding my calls, but he would drive with speed and pass through my shop everyday. After 1 week of trying, his number stopped going through, I had to send a message to him on WhatsApp, he told me that he travelled to Ghana and drop one funny number like that for me to call, I went and search him on facebook, i was surprised to see that he has been posting bible verses everyday on his Facebook page and whatsapp status, he even made a video of him preaching. after like 1 week and some days, I called him and he said he is back to nigeria, I should send my account number to him that he would forward it to someone to send me the money. Since that day, the man has been given be excuses, he even stop responding on WhatsApp or take my calls. I had to send massage to one of his Facebook friends, before he starts responding again to my massage. Upon that, the Man is full of excuses and lies
This thing happened since August.
Please what do you suggest I should do.
I wanted to call him out on social media, because he his very active on social media , posting bible verses and following top pastors on social media.

I do POS business too. Ur own case is small. If I start narrating my experiences with people and the amount of money I have lost, I would just write journal here. My advice to u, count your loses and move on. Learn from this while u keep calling him. U might b fortunate to get ur money back.

Someone's pain is rubbish to you. Don't worry, very soon you'll experience what he experienced.

This I have seen.

not like i didn't feel the person's pain but the fact that he/she felt for such cheap trick is what's paining me, cos it was very obvious that man has been trying to dupe he/she so expected he/she to be smart over that particular man

I will help you with wise counsel.
What happened to you is a regular thing that happens to people that do POS biz or those handling cash. However, you were a prey cos of your mumu nature. You mumu small, hope you know that? Cos you won't tell me you v not heard of how 419 people do. If they can't defraud you, they ll borrow money they won't pay. After long time dragging may be like 6months to a year, you sef go weak and mostly forget or the motivation to ask for ya right go reduce. It's a psychological tool. More so he came before like a criminal and you couldn't understand immediately that care is needed in dealing with him. See as you narrate too, you said you mumushiously quickly transfered money to him. JJC!

Now listen to wise counsel. Brief and straight forward.
1. Gather all evidence. From verbal ones to pics, screenshots from WhatsApp etc. You said he is active on Facebook cos he dey see money buy data, buy fuel for car etc but can't pay you money not up to N15K. That's wickedness!
Also, print out bank statement of the day you transfered the money to him. Not the date and time. Print out your conversations from the days he's been giving excuses on WhatsApp or any virtual means of communication. Also print out some of his recent activities on Facebook and attach to the bank statement. It ll help you prove beyond doubt that he had something to do with you.

2. Secretly, locate his house, wife, children, church & anyone in authority to him.
This is to at least know where to find him if the matter reach police or NSCDC.

3. Involve an elderly person or plenty elders for that area. Attack him physically, spiritually and psychologically. Give him what Yorubas call Isolenu. Broadcast him throughout that area that you won't gree till you get ya money. This unpaid broadcast is via street amebos that hear the gist.

4. Go to NSCDC or police station and first seek counsel. Make sure you go there with a guardian from you in order to monitor police not to twist the case. In fact, civil defence ll solve this case maturely and amicably that you no go even bribe their officers except if you use ya mind say make you buy the officers coca-cola or zobo money as appreciation.

5. Have a determines spirit of getting ya money back. No matter how crafty the man may be. Just tender all evidence to appropriate authorities for prosecution.

With these few points of mine, hope I v helped you. Also, don't be a mumu. We v people like that man that have owed debts in different places. Go n investigates him, you ll see that's his normal trick. Small time, he fit komot ya hood go elsewhere. But hold ham sharp before he escaped with ya money.

No pity for POS operators especially those who used the scarcity of naira notes to rob us with fraudulent charges and these same POS OPERATORS, are praying for it to return again as banks now limit withdrawalsvto 20k.
