Obi has 4 times as Olu = 4x Olu's sweet = x If Obi gives Olu 21 sweets, they will have equal number of sweets. Therefore, Obi's sweet = 4x-21 Olu's sweet = x+21 Equating both number of sweets and solving for x, 4x-21 = x+21 Collecting like terms 4x-x =21+21 3x=42 Dividing both sides by 3 3x/3 = 42/3 x = 14 Since Obi has 4x, Obi's sweet = 4×14=56 Olu's sweet = 14 Check: 4x-21 = x+21 56-21 = 14 +21 35 = 35 |
