So why are you insulting me? undecided

Is everything alright with you?

You're too dumb to see it was a joke? Or that I was being harmlessly silly? Chill the fuk out over what? Kilagbe kileju? I mean, English dictionaries always have the words and meanings written in English, and ideally, a Yoruba dictionary too should. Even some French dictionaries are like that too. Everything is completely in English.

What the OP posted above should be like a transliteration dictionary and I understand the utility of that; why it was necessary that the dictionary was made like that. I did not attack or insult him or even condemned what he posted.

But in your rash haste, you barged into my mention insulting me, for what?

I should 'chill the fuvk out' as per? What in my comment warranted that retort? Was I fighting with you or anyone? Why are you shouting? And who are you shouting at?

That is all that matters according to you or who? Mtcheeeewwww.

Alright kid, go cry to your mama!!

True. The word Eko has a different and unrelated meaning in the Bini language dictionary. It's mostly used for tummy/belly or stomach.

The way some of you just come online to spew ignorance is really alarming.

There are several variations of the three letter word "EKO" in Edo language.

I will give you three.

Eko ( pronounced as 'heykoh'). This means Camp. And this is the one Benin uses to refer to Lagos Island.

Eko ( pronounced as "Herr-Kor" H should be silent when pronouncing) . This means pap in Edo language.

Eko ( pronounced as " Herr-koh"wink this means stomach/tummy or belly.

There are more variations depending on where the ümlaut lies on the vowels.

Of course. And aren't you just the perfect kid from a good home with great values.

Insult someone unnecessarily, gets called out, and become a defensive, condescending bully bringing up people's parents. 😂

Even the person I quoted had no problem with my comment. Are you not ashamed of yourself now?

Were all these places named by the Binis too?

Just because we have same Word in two different languages does not mean they're the same

For example: 'Akin' Is a Yoruba word for a Strong man

And Also Akin is also an English word which means something of similar nature

Same with Ode which means a hunter in Yoruba
And "Ode" which means a lyric poem in the form of an address to a particular subject in English

Does that mean Yoruba language belongs to the English people just cos they have a word in common?

Even Àkùkọ in Yoruba is Hẹn
And Okuko in Igbo is Hẹn

Because these words sounds the same, Does that make Yoruba own the word Okuko?

FACT CHECK....

Eko was founded by Binis... But later occupied and dominated by Yorubas till date.

EOD.

The Bini traveled for over 250km from Bini to Lagos Island to establish a Military camp on the Island.

Questions:

1) Who were their opponents ,for them to use the military against? They couldn't have left home to travel to far places to just set up a military camp to fight themselves.

The military was to subdue the local people in that place.

2) Does it make sense that the Awori people who have been living on all communities around the Island for centuries weren't aware of the existence of the Island and had to wait wait for the Binis to travel from over 200km to discover the Island?

3) There is a written record of the Portuguese visiting Lagos in 1472 ,about 70 years before Ashipa was appointed by the Oba of Bini as the Administrator/War leader of the Island.
