I knew my wife from the first day of school.

We were in same department and did same course.

Never thought of her as someone I would ever marry as she was too quiet for me.

About a year to graduation, I moved out to live off campus and discovered she stayed same area.

That help me know her better.

I realized she was so kind and friendly.

Inoticed too I never see around her anybody who may pose as treat to me.

However, I was reluctant to mention my intentions. When I finally did, she wasn't sure herself but she gave a sign that she was very interested.

I was posted to Borno State, while she was posted to Taraba State for our National Youth Service Corp, remember then there was no mobile phone and She thought that will be end of the whole thing, but I had my plan.

Somehow I got to know exactly her area of primary assignment in one far village southern part of the state.

Three months into service, unannounced, I set to Taraba from Maiduguri.

The journey was terrified and risky as I had to pass through Jos in plateau state, unknown to me that there was a better route through Gombe.

I left Jos and got to Shendam and had to cross River Benue to a town known as Ibi in Taraba, my first time of crossing a river.

I arrived Wukari then moved to Takum around 9pm. (I was scared) I then took a bike to the village I thought I was going, got to the village (lisam) pass ten and the whole village had gone to bed.

Thank God not the era of boko haram/kidnappers.

The bike guy helped to locate the coppers lodge and the coppers I met knew her but I had to travel another 20min on bike to get to Rufu, her exact location.

The bike guy agreed to continue as long as would pay. I did and he dropped me in the village. We arrived around pass 11pm.

The moment she saw me, she hugged me, crying and was wondering why I had to take such risk.

All other copper woke and were surprised to see a love bird risked his life to search for love.

That was the day she said nothing will make her loss her life opportunity.

We got married a year after the service and was blessed with 2 kids.

Now 19th year of faithful marriage, never know another woman ever then.

This is our love story.

Those were days hookup has not taken over our girls (especially students) life.

19 years is not a joke. Congratulations
