Thank you for your feedback. Don’t you think it is fallacious for you to say this, given the abundance of documentary evidence that disproves your claims? And would you not think this is a bit too much, especially as many of your followers tend to be overly sensitive and accuse others of hating them?

I am Itsekiri. We know our history. In writing. Not oral history. Itsekiris are one of the few peoples in the geographical location now called Nigeria who can trace, in writing, our ancestry for the last 500 years.

For example, the oldest letter written by a person from the geographical location now known as Nigeria was written by my ancestor, Ogiame Oyenakpagha, to Pope Clement X in 1652, requesting for additional Catholic Christian priests for the Iwere Kingdom. That letter is preserved to date in The Vatican.

What were your ancestors doing in 1652?

Another of my ancestors, Ogiame Atuwatse I, the 7th Olu of Iwere, was the first West African, and possibly the first sub-Saharan African, to graduate from a university. He graduated in 1611. I have a photograph of the school he attended. He was the father of Ogiame Oyenakpagha.

What were your ancestors doing in 1652?

Though I am not too proud of it, my ancestors sold certain people, and we have written receipts, one of which is in a museum in the Caribbeans. How can you say people who have receipts from over a century ago documenting their sale of **** people do not know their history?

As for the Yorubas, it is odd that you should say such a thing. Please Google this query:

‘When did Christianity get to Igbo land.’

Christianity got to our beloved Igbo brothers and sisters in the year 1857. Please research it yourself. Before 1857, there was no knowledge of Christianity in Igboland.

Now, who brought Christianity to Igboland? It was not the British directly. Christianity was introduced to Igboland by Bishop Samuel Ajayi Crowther in the year 1857, and he wrote about it in his books.

He first attempted in 1854-55 and could only get one convert. He wrote about that in his book, ‘Journal of an Expedition Up the Niger and Tshadda Rivers, ‘ published in 1855.

He was more successful later in 1857 and wrote about his experiences converting the Igbos to Christianity in his book, ‘The Gospel on the Banks of the Niger: Journals and Notices of the Native Missionaries Accompanying the Niger Expedition of 1857-1859′.

Now, let me quote Bishop Samuel Ajayi Crowther

“When we arrived Onitsha, we found the people in a state of idleness, with its attendant evils. They were scantily and filthily clothed’.

I don’t want to quote more because if I do, some people may insult me. But I have a copy of this book and can mail it to you. You can also order it on Amazon.

But note that Bishop Samuel Ajayi Crowther founded ‘Mission House’ from where he and his converts preached the Gospel to the Igbos.

Additionally, Bishop Samuel Ajayi Crowther was the first man in history to write a book in Igbo and about the Igbo language. He learnt how to speak Igbo and codified the language in his book, ‘Vocabulary of the Ibo Language’, published in 1882.

So, when you insult me and the Yorubas as people who have no history, I laugh. If you say the people who brought Christianity to Igbo land have no history, then what are you saying about yourself?

In the British Museum are the one thousand-year-old Ife Bronzes showing Yoruba people fully clothed and riding horses.

What were your ancestors doing in one thousand years ago?

Thanks again, and may God bless you.

If you read Reno with an unbiased mind, he really is intelligent and you can gain a thing or two from his write ups. The problem is that he is too confrontational. He is good in 'them vs us' situations.

If you want to know your history, just go into politics. Reno Omokri just gave that Igbo guy the history of the Igbo people.

Here's one of the books on the history of the Igbo tribe with pictures of how primitive and uncivilized the tribe was until the Yoruba civilised the Igbo. https://archive.org/details/amongibosofniger00basd/page/223/mode/1up?ref=ol&view=theater He is right that as recent as the 1960s, it was still a struggle to stop unclothedness in Igboland.

This should be taught in our schools to help generations of Igbo know that the Yoruba are truly their benefactors and way to ahead of them to become an adversary to the Igbo. When this aspect of Igbo history is taught in our schools, it helps point out how the Yoruba helped the Igbo and perhaps tone down or outrightly end the hate and envy some, not all, Igbo display to their Yoruba benefactors.

The Yoruba are not adversary.of Igbo at all and can never be. it is ignorance and ingratitude that is the adversary of those Igbo filled with hate for others.

I guess you're talking about the Ikweres in Rivers State and Ikas in Delta State.

They've always been a distinct people from Igbos with their own identity.

Proximity to Igbo towns coupled with the itinerant nature of Igbos led to intermarriages, migration (as has even been more intense in recent times due to insecurity in the SouthEast) and adoption/sharing of some cultural features.

They know their own history and would always make it clear they have their own identity.

Mrfeel:

These people you mentioned have always cliamed they are from Benin , no matter how close they settled or intermarry with igbo , it's impossible for their original Benin language and culture to go extinct plus they are not the only tribe who are settled close to igboland or intermarry with igbo
Reno omokri once said , they were Benin Itsekiri slaves when slavery ended they didn't return to the Igboland where they were captured as slaves

All these areas were under the Bini Kingdom. Despite these ethnic groups originally being part of the kingdom, today you'll not see any Edo attempt to place or force any form of identity on them.
These people know best who they are. That cannot be determined by the wishes of someone else from another land.

Secondly, effects of migration cannot be deemphasized. Factors such as itinerant behaviour/culture of groups of people, sociopolitical and economic factors and proximity determine the migration trend.
Keys events in history which would have promoted such migration apart from slave trade include the advent of the colonial period in Southern Nigeria when former slaves would prefer to settle within such coastal region, the acceptance and hospitable nature and cultures of host communities, establishment of the earlier corporate entities such as the Royal Niger Company which led to further migration to these regions in search of education, skill acquisition, employment, trading, etc.

So within these areas today, apart from having descendants of the aborigines, you'll definitely have individuals who would claim to be indigenous, and may even have some knowledge of history of their forefathers being migrants from places in the SouthEast, but over the last few generations, have claimed to be indigenous.
This is not a bad thing, rather a stimulus for growth and development as seen in the most developed cities globally.

But where a problem lies is when some people who claim to be indigenous and can trace their ancestry to being migrants, attempt to force or cajole aborigines to accept a false identity in order to achieve an agenda.

Similar events are playing out in Rivers and even Lagos, leading to certain events we've witnessed in recent times.
The truth is in the next half to full century, Igbos and other tribes who have been in places like Lagos for generations would claim to be indigenes of Lagos, which is great.
But peace would be disturbed when any of such groups attempts to (falsely) ascribe its ethnic ownership over such a place in order to meet a certain ethnic agenda. It will only reawaken ethnic differences amongst the people.

Here is a video of a royal father from Delta North below:

The story of Igbo is one that's uninspiring and totally unpleasant. It's nothing to write home about. It's not as if anyone is even interested in taunting them with their ugly past but the Igbo themselves just don't know how to keep their big traps in check ! They always want to force this funny superiority stuffs down the throats of everybody around them ! The truth is that the vast majority of today's population of young Igbo people have been brainwashed and misguided to think that Igbo are a special chosen tribe not only in Nigeria but in Africa as a whole ! These young generation of Igbo don't truly know or aware of the slavery status of their progenitors.

Igbo history is akin to the story of an ancient wealthy man with several children but among whom was a slave who was not aware of his true identity. This was because the wealthy man was treating all his children, including the slave, equally. As a matter of fact,he gave this slave some privileges which his own biological children were not entitled to. This made this slave to erroneously assumed that he was the favorite child of the wealthy man.

One day, while going through some hidden documents of their father, the slave child came across a shocking secret in one of the papers - there is a slave among the children ! The boy didn't waste time,he confronted their father and demanded to know who is the real slave among the other children as he was so sure that it would never be him - the favorite child ! The wealthy man, their father, told him that it was not necessary to reveal who the slave was as that would only make the slave to be very sad but the boy (the real slave ) insisted that he must know the slave ! He said that he could not live under the same roof with a slave,so he insisted that their father must name the slave !

So,when this slave, who was not aware of his true identity, insisted that he must know the slave, the wealthy man fixed a meeting to be attended by everyone in the family for next day. When everyone had seated, the man rose up and with a very heavy heart,he pointed at the arrogant slave boy and said - "I was my intention to take this little family secret of ours into my grave but since you insisted that you must know the slave among you,it really saddens my heart to inform you that you're that slave" ! The arrogant slave boy could believe his hearing but the wealthy man went further to inform him that he was actually born into the slavery as his real parents were his slaves but that he sold them (the slave boy parents) to another slave Marchant in a far away land !

Above is the real history of Igbo in Nigeria. Ti a ba ka Eru,Inu Eru a ma baje ! Igbo should shut up if they don't want people who know their real history to start bringing their ugly past to the fore !

Now they have a misguided population of young people who think they are victims and at the same time special chosen people .

All these noise won't change the real identity of the Igbo; you're all descendants of slaves who once dwelled in some remote hinterlands of what's today known as Alaigbo ! Yoruba people that you Igbo have made your sworn enemies today did a lot for the development of Igbo people. They brought you out of your primitive jungles, schooled you, clothed you and taught you what civilisation was all about !

Instead of insulting and raining curses on Reno Omokri, you should be thankful to the Yoruba people first !
