The Honourable Minister of State for Labour and Employment, Barr. Nkeiruka Onyejeocha, has issued a heartfelt statement mourning the death of former Ondo State Governor, Rotimi Akeredolu.

Governor Akeredolu passed away earlier today, sending shockwaves through the Nigerian political landscape.

In the statement signed by her Media Adviser, Emameh Gabriel, Onyejeocha described the news of Governor Akeredolu's passing as a "huge shock" and a "shadow falling over Ondo State." She went on to highlight his remarkable career, praising his "staunch advocacy for democracy," his "keen legal mind," and his unwavering support for women's empowerment.

She said: "Governor Akeredolu's legacy extends far beyond his official title. He was a champion for democracy, a brilliant lawyer, and a true advocate for women. He consistently created platforms for them to rise and demonstrate their leadership capabilities."

Despite the grief, Onyejeocha urged everyone to remember Governor Akeredolu not for his absence, but for the "vibrant energy he brought to life." She emphasized his dedication to his family, state, and country, and the lasting impact he has left behind.

"The sun may have set on his earthly journey, but Governor Akeredolu's light lingers, illuminating the path forward for future generations," Minister Onyejeocha declared. "His life inspires us to uphold his values, fight for what we believe in, and leave our own lasting marks on the world."

The statement concluded with a poignant message of condolence to Governor Akeredolu's family and a final tribute to his legacy.

"Rest in peace, Governor Akeredolu," Minister Onyejeocha wrote. "Your star will forever shine in the constellation of those who made Nigeria a brighter place."
