Mynd44 is pro-APC, but he is not a tribalist. In all our extensive and explosive interactions, I have detected no hint of tribalism whatsoever.

Fair enough, fergie001 has been appointed to complement Mynd44. Funnily, fergie is as much inclined as Mynd, he's equally as expressive and has his leanings as well. Would fergie suddenly become mute on issues he would normally have aired his opinions?. I think it is unfair to put him in a box and expect to not have him speak his mind during certain discussion. I see his opinions as valuable and enriches the subject of discussion eventhough you might not always agree with him. To me Mr seun is a unifier and a supporter of eastern Nigeria, I've known this for long, though I can't say the same about some of his mods.

You just have to put in place a more capable abuse team that will perform well.

We all should refrain from bigotry and behave well come 2024, the blame goes to everybody if this platform is toxic because it is filled with Nigerians themselves.

Though I'm not surprised seeing this rivalry, the last presidential election had two candidates from the two tribes with each of them supporting their own, this is highly expected, the two tribes have the good, the bad and the ugly.

Most of the people commenting "trash" on Christian threads are non-religious people and even fellow Christians. Making people swear an oath won't deter them.

Tribal insults are most times between the three major ethnic groups in Nigeria, Yoruba, Hausa and Ibo. It's usually a one on one thing with the third playing the entertained bystander.

I'm not aware that Yorubas have engaged plateau people on tribal wars either on nairaland or Twitter.

In recent times this tribal superiority contest, mud slinging and slur making has been on all time high between Ibos and Yorubas, is it something to be proud of? I don't think so.

But a certain tribe pretend to be the victim all the time, they always claim not to be the offender,which is an obvious lie.

I have never seen any of the Yoruba belligerents here call out any Ibo moderator to be sacked as much as myn44 has been reported by Ibos.

Whenever they are banned after breaking rule 2 of Nairaland, they will go back to Twitter to lament about how Nairaland is against their tribe and how I'm personally working against them.

For avoidance of doubt, I have always been a supporter and admirer of south-eastern people. I will never have any tribalistic bone in my body. I am a human who views people as humans first.

The micro-kernel of truth in the mountain of lies is that Nairaland is under-staffed. The staff I have do not moderate as efficiently as I want them to. They also struggle with following my instructions.

So if you go to Nairaland looking for tribalism, you will find it in certain areas, just as you will if you search Twitter for tribalism, because of people whose main business online is tribal trolling.

However, I want Nairaland to be better than Twitter. I want to improve the consistency of moderation on Nairaland. For this reason, I am in the process of recruiting more people to help.

You will have to recruit a special moderator who we can CONTACT directly by email to deal with the well-known, relentless ethnic bigots and trolls who spread fake news, mysoginistic comments, and defame you, Mynd44, and other NL members on this website. I have a long list of the monikers who have been reported in the past by me (only for the reports to be annoyingly ignored due to shortage of mods or lethargy). And when these trolls are banned, they come back again with alternate accounts and proceed to openly taunt and insult the NL moderators for banning them!

This would cut down on trolling on NL and the sanity of the late 2000s that we the veterans of NL experienced here would come back.

Would this drive new and existing members or people and advertisers away?

NO! More folks would want to identify with a much saner NL.

I knew the forum has grown too big for the existing moderators to moderate. I stated this in an almost heated argument I had in a WhatsApp group about a couple of weeks ago when some people were accusing you along the line you stated.

In my mind, I think mostly younger people and shallow-thinking older folks would accuse you as being complicit in the tribalism. The evidence is right there for anyone who cares to see them.

However, I would ask you to consider looking into the working of the moderating bot. It has banned me several times for posts that weren't against any rules. The post for which a ban was issued would be indicated but no reason provided.
