OP, forget about looking for any qualifications for social media manager. What you need to do is find a small organisation that needs someone to help keep posting stuff on their social media pages. Like a local YouTuber, Instagram influencer or even a volunteer group and offer to help with setting up and managing engagement on their other channels: their twitter and TikTok in exchange for a basic stipend and a slice of the income that you generate off the new platform. Most folks find it hard to manage YouTube, Instagram, TikTok, twitter (x) , Facebook, Snapchat and LinkedIn simultaneously. If you offer to help, I know many small creators and organisations that will jump at your offer.

This is the best entry route into the industry. But you'll need to be patient and willing to forget about making money for the first 6-10 months. Once you've perfected the skillsets to gain subscriptions, followers, engagement and can show traction, these will help serve as proof to land a job as social media manager with more established organisations.

I would recommend an advisory resource: try and listen to the conversation below: the greatest years of your life .

If you can listen beyond the first 7-10 minutes, you'll hear these guys discuss strategies that are useful for someone in your shoes. Pay close attention to their analogy of "learning baking skills and transferring it to a bigger grocer".

Let me know if you find this helpful. Cheers

To become a social media manager, individuals typically benefit from qualifications such as a bachelor's degree in marketing, communications, or a related field, coupled with relevant experience in social media management, strong communication skills, creativity, and a deep understanding of various social media platforms and trends.

Additionally, certifications in social media marketing and a comprehensive portfolio showcasing successful campaigns can enhance one's prospects in this dynamic field.
