Hello, Good people of Nairaland.

I'm in my 20s, Is it normal to feel lost at this age?
I'm unemployed & depressed, I feel lost and directionless.
My father is late, my mother is old, my younger siblings are pinning their hopes on me. I have no one else to rely on except God.
I do menial jobs in the neighbourhood to sustain my family, I can't even save from it. We're drowning in debts.

I couldn't go to the university, so I want to take digital courses online, but I don't have a laptop to practice, and my phone is bad.

People say things will get better, but I don't know how or when it will. I'm loosing hope. cry

I need your advice or any help you can offer.
I will account for how I use any resources you give me, and I will pay you back when I get a suitable employment.
May God bless your good heart.

If your story is indeed true, I can tell you that one of the worst things you could do to yourself would be to get entangled with a man who would then use you, even impregnate you, at this point in time. There are no saviors out there. There is you using your head to figure out your way forward --- no shortcuts out there. undecided

Feeling lost and hopeless can be overwhelming, but it's important to remember that there are steps you can take to navigate through these difficult emotions. Here are some suggestions:

Seek Support:

Reach out to friends, family, or a mental health professional. Talking about your feelings with someone you trust can provide emotional support and different perspectives.
Professional Help:

If your feelings of hopelessness persist, consider seeking the help of a therapist or counselor. Professional guidance can assist you in understanding and managing your emotions.
Set Small Goals:

Break down larger challenges into smaller, manageable goals. Achieving small victories can build confidence and a sense of accomplishment.
Explore Interests:

Engage in activities or hobbies that bring you joy or that you find interesting. Exploring new interests can help you discover passions and create a sense of purpose.
Reflect on Values:

Reflect on your values, beliefs, and what matters most to you. Aligning your actions with your values can provide a sense of direction and meaning.
Build a Supportive Network:

Surround yourself with positive influences. Cultivate relationships with people who uplift and support you during challenging times.
Physical Well-being:

Take care of your physical health by maintaining a balanced diet, getting regular exercise, and ensuring sufficient sleep. Physical well-being can positively impact mental health.
Educate Yourself:

Take steps to acquire new skills or further your education. Lifelong learning can open up opportunities and boost self-esteem.
Set Realistic Expectations:

Be kind to yourself and set realistic expectations. Understand that everyone faces challenges, and it's okay not to have all the answers right away.
Mindfulness and Relaxation Techniques:

Practice mindfulness, meditation, or relaxation techniques to help manage stress and gain clarity.
Volunteer or Help Others:

Volunteering or helping others can provide a sense of purpose and fulfillment. Contributing to a cause greater than yourself can be personally rewarding.
Plan for the Future:

Create short-term and long-term goals. Having a plan, even if it's flexible, can provide direction and motivation.
If you find yourself struggling with thoughts of self-harm or suicide, it's crucial to seek immediate help. Reach out to a mental health professional, a helpline, or emergency services in your country.

Remember, reaching out for support is a sign of strength, and there are resources available to help you navigate through challenging times.
