It's no longer news that Sanwo Olu accosted a soldier riding against traffic in Lagos. However, something curious and shocking resulted. Another soldier made a video of himself condemning the governor. He not only insulted his person but also used very derogatory words on him and his office. Soon after his video went viral, another soldier who was angry at Sanwo Olu and his 'audacity' to arrest a fellow soldier, also made a video of himself and just like the previous soldier, he equally used unprintable words on the governor.

I'm not a fan of Sanwo Olu, neither am I a fan of Tinubu, his master or APC as the ruling party. However, it was really unfair and degrading for these guys to publicly ridicule Sanwo Olu in this manner.

Let's assume that it was a Fulani governor of Kano state whose master equally happens to be the president, did what Sanwo Olu did, would these soldiers have insulted him and ridiculed his office the way they did to Sanwo Olu? The answer is a resounding no!

Make out of this whatever you want...

The army is infiltrated with religion sentement, ethnicity and racicm. In Nigeria, the north believe the military belong to them, and if you are not Aboki and you try to do or say anything about the military, you are a stranger. In order to redeem the office of the Governor, those officers must be disciplined.

Whatever the case may be he doesn't have right to rubbish them like that.

Being a soldier does not give you the right to break civil laws.
If you are driving against traffic you are putting the lives of other people in danger.

Mate? Do you even have an idea of my age?
That doesn't matter "sir"
What matters is that the Governor was right in his anger. The people will always blame accidents on the government.
Now, imagine you enact laws in your household and your child disobeys. You must chastise him

For crying out loud! He is the Chief Security officer of the state. Also, just because a few soldiers are talking rubbish does not mean the army as a whole is against the disciplinary action metted on one of them. You guys like generalising too quickly. The governor did the right thing.

And Tinubu can't be easily abused on social media...even though he is your president...illogical reasoning...

Everything in this country is always viewed with the eyes of tribalism and religious sentiment... Just a simple case.....of which we have experienced worst of this in the northern and in the eastern part of the country....then....a soldier have the gut to speak before a governor....i dare him to speak whenever his boss is speaking either on the parade ground or in his office...the consequent will n.be bad....and his boss might just be 2 star general that's a Brigadier General.....which is far lower in Dank to the Governor of a state.....

While I condemn Sanwo-Olu's inelegant use of language, you need to be reminded that we are not in the Jack-boot era of military rule.

Not about jack-boot era but about treating a soldier right and not disrespecting them publicly like an ordinary civilian by a civilian

You lack reasoning capacity,an army officer does not generate a dime, everything he uses from head to toe is generated by the working population, even the gear he uses, weapons, training and other facilities are paid for by the sweat and labour of the populace. If I pay for everything you use how dare you question my actions. I guess your street mai guard can knock you around since he watches over your properties when you sleep. After all mai guard too protects you with his heart

Right, so it is okay to disrespect ordinary civilians - which is what most Nigerians are?

This kind of thinking shows you do not understand your role in society.

It is you who rather don't understand how military operates, it's ok if it's from their superiors but not an ordinary civilian.

We've had military serve us and we knew our boundaries, they are very respectful but you don't treat them as trash as a civilian

You are very funny and very naive.

All over the world any military man that breaks the law a police man can arrest him/her.

They are not above the law.........those one making video are just private there oga won't even comment cos they know the law.

The said right a soldier (a recruit, may be a private) has from not being arrested by DSS is one imagined by you.. I know you are ignorant of how Powerful a state Governor is because you probably lack requisite knowledge to know.. Moreover, the said Soldier was not in uniform so you expected the Governor to him agree he is soldier just because he said "I am a Soldier"?

That's why power must not return to the north for now. If Peter Obi cannot have it, Tinubu should continue.

Those northerners need to understand that we all owe this country together and that if anyone should have upper hands, it should be the South whose resources are used to run the country.
