My Experience With Fake Customs' Officer On A Car Sale Scam by Brightgem(f): 4:55pm On Jan 05
True Story.

I've been looking at vehicles on Jiji and Facebook market place where I have successfully purchased two vehicles before. And this camry (Picture shared) is going for 1 million. Ah! The alarms go off in my head, how is this car this prize and it's still there? This is give away na. I reach out to advertiser (on Facebook) whose name is Okoroma Rosemary. She sends a number I should call.

I call and they don't pick, eventually calls back. Says yes, they listed the vehicle, between the number when dialed shows a name that has customs added at the end. So we talk, she says yes she put up the ad, its an auction car and I ask if she works with customs, she says yes. Confirms that the car is 1M including doing the papers for me, I say where is the car, she says it's in Lagos, and I say I'm not sure I can buy, I thought it was in my location, she says the transaction is still possible, goes on to explain she'll confirm my identity, she'll process the papers for the car in my name, and one of their own verified drivers will deliver the car to me, then I'll check and pay (First concern, you'll drive a car all the way and then I'll check before paying). She also says the only thing I'll pay for is the logistic part of getting the car to me, which is fueling and driving the car down and when I pay on delivery I will pay short of whatever I spent on the logistics, meaning if I paid 100k for logistics, I will pay 900k when car is delivered (Another red flag, this is Nigeria, who is that generous) I ask her full name, she tells me Ademola Stella.

I say we should move to WhatsApp I have more questions. So I ask on whatsApp that someone I know in Lagos, can come check the car with a mechanic so that if all is good, I will just pay through the friend and the deal can be done once and for all. She goes on to say something about being at the border, Seme Boarder in Badagry (is there any connection between Seme and Badagry? Well I don't know Lagos Like that) That my friends will need clearance to get in and so it's better her own driver does the delivery and then I can check.

This person has the DP of a custom officer in uniform, but her voice does not match that person's face. I ask for her work ID, she says well that's a bit personal but sends pictures of an ID with Ademola Stella written, but I'm looking closely and see some graphic editing has been done on the ID. I look up the name Ademola Stella online and realize there's multiple profile under that name, posing as a custom's person, in one profile the person has officer at seme border Kaduna (Lagos to Kaduna again?) Looking at the old pictures on the page, it's a guy that was posting and his account was probably hacked by Ademola Stella.

I write back to her that I believe she's a scam, she sounds unprofessional for a Customs officer, amongst other obvious reasons. I block her. She deletes all her own part of the chat.

If it's too good to be true, it's too good to be true. People who get scammed sometimes were the greedy ones and sometimes they truly didn't know any better.

See the vehicle attached in case you have seen it elsewhere and see the image of the person probably being impersonated so she can be informed.
