Successful Ebonyi State born businessman, John Anayochukwu Nwakpa, popularly known as 'John White', did something this New year which I urge all Igbos to do

He built his palatial country home right in the middle of no where in his Ekka village, Ezza community, Ezza North, Ebonyi State

He didn't care if the place has all the social amenities in the world, all he cared about is that his house in his ancestral land will be the best he can afford

So Igbos, if you can afford it, build in your village, build in your home town, build in your community, build in Igbo land. Stop building in Lagos, Abuja, Kano, Ibadan and other places you are not indigenous to.

Don't let them decieve you with one Nigeria, there is no such thing. The day they will come for you,it will be impossible for you to carry what you have built elsewhere, and transport to Igbo land.

Hmmm...building gigantic buildings for goats and chickens to inhabit till Christmas or August meeting.

Please start building factories, institutions around these areas in order to engender rapid development.

Nothing wrong in building this
But Iโ€™ll advise you build a hospital and school too
Falling sick in the bush with no nearby hospitals isnโ€™t wise or not giving back to your community and having the biggest house, itโ€™s an open invitation to thieves and kidnappers

Building q mansion is a big business, do you know how many people you will keep employed before, during and after the Building? Even maintaining the house is another business that keeps people employed.

Sorry, I don't get it. Where should he have built before? In my village? Most Igbo men make it a point to duty to build a house in thier hometown. Why are we pointing this individual out.

Mobutu Sese Seko build a palatial mansion in his village, he had to leave the country and his mansion when he was overthrown, big huge mansion is now overrun with animals and has been left to rot.

Closer to home, Ezego too build a huge mansion in his village. I believe he only ever went back to it over the Christmas period.

Now Ezego is dead, the mansion has been left to animals and is desolate.

What really is the point of building a mansion in your village which, after your death, will fall into a dilapidated state? Why not build something more modest and empower the villagers by building better facilities that they can all still enjoy well after your death.

The best is to put up something that will attract people to that place first. Like manufacturing stuff. In no time workers there will want to stay close to their workplace. You then put up residential structures. I think that's a better model.
