Expressing deep reservations, the Arewa Youth Consultative Forum has strongly advocated for the cancellation of the proposed computer-based test (CBT) format in the upcoming West African Senior School Certificate Examinations (WASSCE) in Nigeria.


The forum contends that the adoption of this mode of examination could lead to widespread failure, particularly among students in the rural areas of northern states, where computer skills are either scarce or entirely absent.


In a statement released in Kaduna on Friday, Yerima Shettima, the National President of AYCF, emphasized the need for the CBT exams to be optional.


He suggested that candidates should be given the choice between the traditional pen-and-paper format and the computer-based approach.


According to Shettima, such flexibility would enable students to choose the format they are most comfortable with and capable of successfully navigating.


Citing research conducted in northern states such as Zamfara, Jigawa, Taraba, Adamawa, Nasarawa, and Plateau, Shettima highlighted the consistent trend of misleading failure rates

Education in the North here is nothing to right home about.

I went to saint Augustine primary school in Tudun Wada axis in Kaduna. It's relatively Ok comparing to other primary school run by the government. They all use Hausa language to teach the students from primary level up to secondary level. So how do you expect such a student to compete with the Easterners and the Westerners? It's not possible.

The problem with the North here is that the foundation is faulty. Everything here is seen through the prism of religion and tribalism. And it's not ending anytime soon because the politicians are taking advantage of that.

If not that I have decided to be a seriously minded born again Christian this year, I for don abuse their Papa.

There are always fears and concerns when new innovations are introduced. The same happened with the introduction of JAMB CBT. Today candidates from every part of the country are writing it.

Disgraceful comments from Arewa. Where do they want their kids to be? Even the Arabic they learn don go digital but they still wan deprive their masses

Some years back during service we went as far as writing answers on the board yet they couldnt write it in their answer sheet..
Principal begin beg us to start writing for them, how many persons can you even write for?
Free waec form that school will fill for them.
How can they takebit serious...
