Scriptural Compositions

Your Concept of God in Crisis.

Though He slay me, yet will I trust Him. Even so, I will defend my own ways before Him. ( Job 13:15 )

Trusting God when times are good is easy. Trusting God when things are not favourable is a different ball game. We may find it easy to hope in God when the situation is not extreme. Our concept of God is usually on a varying level when our businesses are doing well, our jobs are well paying and things are quite straight forward. How about our concept of God when things are not rosy?

How do we react to setbacks when they are insurmountable? One man in the bible who saw it all when it came to prosperity and loses was Job. Job enjoyed favourable conditions from God. He had money, fame and social status. But everything came crumbling down within a short period of time.
He had a wife who urged him to curse God and die. He had friends who could not give a proper explanation as to why he was facing the challenges he was facing. In fact they were in the end cautioned by God because their theories were far fetched from the reality.

Job meant something profound when he said "even the though he slay me yet I will trust him"
Job knew God was aware of his crisis and his ordeal but he chose to stick with God rather than act defeated. His concept of God was threatened by situations beyond him but he was steadfast. Job was confident in God's character not his seemingly hopeless ordeal and in the end his hope in God paid off as God still blessed him with twice of what he had before.

Key Point: When crisis comes to shake us. It is our concept of God that will either mar us or make us.

Prayer: Lord give me hope in whatever situation I face. May I never give up on you
