A few months ago, I went to buy some fruits when I saw this lovely bunch of bananas for sale.

I love bananas, and this one was extra fresh and beautiful.

I had paid for the other fruits I bought and was having just 700 naira left.

So, I asked to pay 700 naira but she refused, insisting on 1000 naira or nothing.

I couldn't let go of that banana so I requested that she give me discount but she said she can't even sell that banana for 999 naira.

The woman no gree.

Though disappointed, I had to let go as I obviously couldn't afford it at that moment.

Two days later, I was walking down my street when she called out "oga, oya come take the banana for 500".

I stopped by her table, touched the overripe banana, and it had become too soft for my liking.

I can't even take it for free, because I only eat fresh and hard bananas.

I smiled and told her I'm not interested.

As I walked away, I could relate it to our experience in the dating pool.

A young girl in her prime will feel too hot and too beautiful to associate with certain class of men.

She will place unrealistic standards for herself and waits patiently for the man that will sweep her off her feet.

However, in her much later years, she will discard all her standards and even settle for far less than all the men she had rejected.

Remember the banana vvoman, she was willing to sell for 500 naira something I begged to buy for 700 naira.

At 23, you cannot marry a level 8 civil servant who earns 100k, but at 45, you'll gladly marry a security guard and willingly pay your own bride price.

There are life lessons embedded in our daily activities.

Your duty is to identify those lessons and learn from them.

Dynamics of life. The world doesn't care about meaning or making sense, the world is meant to be experienced and life meant to be lived.

So many Creeds an philosophies, adage, epigram but man is frail and gullible. Either we learn from others or learn from experience.
