Why I stopped believing in church miracles by englishmart(m): 7:38am On Jan 10
My cousins at upper sokponba road shared this gist. Their neighbour, an aged woman (Iye Osazee) had leg pains which was diagnosed to be rheumatism. Her friend, Mama Trinity, suggested that they visit a powerful man of God inside Nomayo area - a deep part of Upper Sokponba.

She was very reluctant at first and it took several days of convincing before she agreed and they went to the midweek service or so. Mama Osazee and her friend sat at the back during the service and the man of God was preaching and the preaching was taking time. With rheumatism, you can’t sit for too long or stand for too long - Mama Osazee was in discomfort for she had sat too long.

While the pastor was preaching, he was observing the woman at the back who was in discomfort and was struggling to keep her arse on the chair. He took sometime and then went straight to her; this woman, sit down properly and don’t let me paralyse you. I know you are a witch and my message has been burning you, confess now or i paralyse you.

Mama Osazee; poor old woman was in shock. Mama trinity started explaining that they came for healing 😂

Long story short, as at when this gist was told; mama Osazee and Mama trinity were no longer friends 😂

The church where I worked as an external media and social media page manager. The Pastor, a young dude in Benin, with visible evidence of bleaching. Most times they bring the clips and I edit and post. I was hired by extension and not directly and was paid 25k weekly to edit and post videos of Thursday and Sunday. It was really good that time - 2016.

It was during that period I understood how these fake pastors work and how they easily get away with it.

SCENARIO 01:

Pastor praising and singing heavenly bini gospels songs, damn, he can sing ngl. He pauses, takes a deep sigh and look to the sky - posturing that he’s seeing something in the realm of the spirit. He walks straight to a random woman.

Pastor - Madam, you need help. Which business you dey do?

Woman - I dey sell food @ x location

Pastor shakes his head vigorously in pity for her and walks off.

Pastor - Madam, nor be food you dey sell!

Woman - Daddy, na food oh.

Pastor - I’m telling you it’s not food. Physically it’s food but spiritually, your enemies have turned it to kerosene, that why you don’t make enough sales.

⁃A mic dropping statement ehn?! Hehe. The woman is confused. The congregation is urging her to run to the altar of the man of God for prayers. And she runs there. Pastor is leading his touching praise song again, trying to go back to the spirit realm 😩

PST - Madam, we are going to pray, don’t worry. Go and buy one bottle of coke and bring it.

Guess where they sell the coke, the pastor’s shop opposite the entrance of the church and a bottle was 500 naira there while was 100naira outside. But you must buy from the shop because he printed his picture on it.

I see “miracles” I tire.

Mc Liki Liki mouth a comedian from delta came to Benin to edit some of his old videos and he wanted to transfer them from VCD to mp4 format. While he was in the office, he saw videos of the pastor and was like - This Pastor can give me his church platform since you know I do Christian comedy majorly. And luckily, there’s was a “Power Packed crusade” hosted by the church that day and we invited so he can talk to the pastor himself before leaving for Delta.

The crusade was at Payne school compound, New Benin - crowd Dey. “Raw Power” pastor. You know Nigerians and miracles na. I was there, making sure camera angles were right so they don’t stress me during the editing. Crusade started proper and “Papa” started praying for one man in a wheelchair and he sprung up and walked.

The next big occurrence was when he started mentioning and praying against “every chameleon spirit” hehe. Sorry for the laugh 🤭 And chameleon fell out from nowhere, but he said it was from a lady he laid his hands on and delivered. Papa please na!

While He was doing deliverance, women were falling everywhere and praise ministers singing their lungs out - Mc Likiliki mouth, approached the old man that was healed from his wheelchair - easy because it was an open field.

MC - Oga talk true, you dey waka before?

Man - na god just heal me so oh, I dey serious pain before

Likiliki mouth flashed his radio station ID and said he should say the truth now or he will be arrested.

Man - I Dey waka before na just small pains I dey fee

Mc - How Much them pay you?

Man - 10 thousand.

I was not surprised. Those were just the beginning. Bigger trickery and drama played months to come.

On a Sunday service Papa (Let’s be calling him Raw Power/papa from now) started praying and prophesying “If you know you have a missing family member, they left home and didn’t return, come out side - God wants to restore them to you”

From the control room, I usually go - it’s about to down.

Like 5 different persons rushed out. And he started asking them one after the other; when did yours leave the house? Filtering and separation. He told them to go and sit down but one lady - the lady said her brother left home for a long time (can’t remember, make I nor go lie).

Raw Power started praying and singing bini gospel songs - touching. “Where is Leventis?” He asked. Shehi this one dey crase, who nor know leventis for Benin? “Where is Igun?” Igun?? Raw Power you dey whyne?

“I can see him, around igun” asking his ushers and assistants, “do you know igun, can you go and bring him?” The supposed sister is already crying and rolling on the ground. They all rushed out and took a member’s van heading for Igun street.

Mind you, from this church to Igun should take not less than 30mins on a Sunday. But they got back in less than 15mins. 😂

They sha got back and dragged in one bros who was playing mad.. he was gesturing smoking weed and screaming “Igbo! Igbo!!” 😂 funny scenes.

Papa prayed for him with water, he fell and later stood and said “where am i?” - Werey think say na Nollywood 😂

Long story short. The guy na woodcarver for my family house area. Those guys that carve sofa legs and nkwobi plates.. na him work be that. 😂

Serpentine Spirit

Friday, they had one all night deliverance programme. We (contract media team) got to the church early; 4pm or there about. Started setting up cameras because we were going to stream too. I was supposed to be in the control room as usual but that day, 2 camera operators called in sick and I had to stand in and handled a camera.

Normally, all night services are supposed to start around 12am, but Raw Power entered stage at exactly 9pm. Prayed, sang, ‘smoked-in-tongues’ and people were falling. But one thing I kept hearing during his prayers was “every serpentine spirit, I cast you out!” 😫

I quickly told my assistant that something was about to go down. Ah you should know na. From the chameleon experience. 😂 but I kept recording.

Funny situation -Deep in service, I was already tired, I was sleeping and recording. We started setup since na. I focused on an empty stage, my eyes were opened but I was asleep and RP (Normal Raw power na 😂) was in the congregation laying hands on people. “Quuu! Quuuuu!!!” That was what I heard inside my sleep and I started to hunt for him. Embarrassing.

Back to the matter -
Finally, “there’s someone here, that serpent has been disturbing” said RP. He charged into the last row of the congregation. “I can sense it, I can sense it, fire! Fire!!” He instructed his ushers to search people’s bag and miraculously, 😖 they brought out one heavy quality rubber bag to the stage. “It’s inside, fire! Fire!!” The congregation echoed.

As the usher poured the content of the bag out, Lo! It was a python. A massive one. I was very close, and I zoomed in. One of the ushers rushed for stick and started hitting it.

Okay, see the problem. Firstly, the snake had no movement and it was already smelling. During post production, I was able to see it had liquid coming from the body. lol. Evidence that they planted a dead snake. Secondly, would you need to kill a snake with stick if Holy Ghost fire is already burning it?

Well, the stubborn congregation double up the following Sunday, there was no enough chair to accommodate the new members.

Same Guy?!

This particular all night, I shed a tear. I think it was a “September to Remember” healing program. Normally performance Dey happen, women dey fall and at the back 2 people on wheelchair who, apparently, can’t walk - an old man assisted by his wife and a young guy who came with his brother.

So it happened that when he got to the back, he laid his hands on both of them, used water, used olive oil and one of them sprung up and walked - yeah, the young guy. And brother burst out with so much energy shouting “he is healed, he’s healed”, usher quickly brought the mic and asked him who he was to the healed guy, and he stated that they are brothers.

While he was jumping, my colleague told me straight up, “I know this guy (the happy brother), na Agbor park, near my house him Dey stay”. Wooo.

Now the old man was really unable to walk and I kept my camera on him hoping he walks when RP tapped me on the shoulder and said; Leave him, he doesn’t have faith. Nor be that one make me cry. Pastor went back to the altar - praying and singing. And I saw the old man, forced himself, left the wheelchair and crawled to the altar in agonising pain, his wife was crying. Guess what, raw power nor send am. “His faith is too small”
😭 E nor go better for you Raw Power!

Same guy:
Months after, that happy brother went to the church on a different Sunday for another leg healing deliverance. I wasn’t there, I only edited it and my colleague had to remind me of his statement. We did comparison and it was true. Same guy.

Necklace Mantle:

⁃“There was a woman at New Benin market, she sold food stuff there, her friend is a member of this church. Hot afternoon like this, she fainted and died on the spot. They were about to take her to the mortuary when my church member brought out this mantle - this necklace you are seeing like this so. She placed it on her neck, poured our miracle water on her and prayed small prayer - The dead woman woke up”

Up there is Raw power trying to market his new product. The necklace mantle - just a regular neckware like that of winners chapel but with his own picture. He sold it for N2,500 each. And he sold like mad.

That’s not the spooky part. If I talk this part now, them fit go know this pastor oh. 🤦🏽

Fucck it.

His wife put to bed and sadly the child had a hole in the heart. And he was healing people of everything and his mantle could even raise the dead and not fill a hole in the heart.

Soon, we didn’t see the child again but guess what he said during a service - “God don heal my daughter so we took her to America to enjoy” -

I don’t understand, you mean you took a child less than a year abroad without the mother? Please na, Raw Power!

Worse, they celebrated the child’s birthday that month too. No pictures or video call from the daughter in America. In my deepest of hearts, the child didn’t make it. But they didn’t want congregation to question them.

Zombie congregation wouldn’t, they forgot that part.

Mama of the Church:

They referred to the pastor’s wife as mama. Clearly, she didn’t like me because I don’t literally, bow/bend to greet her. So the thing they pain her.
Also I wasn’t employed by her and I was good with my skills.

So she also employed another group to shoot videos, but the clips still had to get to me for uploading.

She’s not a preacher. But she was in charge of everything - especially finance. She looked older than the husband. - it just might be genetics.

One chorister was expelled from church by her because she sensed she was moving too close to her husband. 😂

I remembered one time they owed me 2 weeks without pay, and I was using my transport. Head usher say make I go beg mama. lol.

“Sha tell your mama say na be admin of the Facebook page. I fit still delete am.” 😭 they paid us sharply.

During a crusade, the guest speaker he's called out a lady. When she came out, he said a life ram was buried to keep her from getting married.
Then he turned to the church, "Do you want to help her?"
Everyone shouted "Yes"
He then proceeded to state the price of the ram that was used, and that we must match the price in cash so that the yoke would be destroyed spiritually. Long story short, people rushed out and made donations.

Perhaps my background as a Muslim caused it because i never believe any miracle man from the first time i heard of it. I'm as inquisitive and critical to most things others do swallow hook line and sinker.
Take for instance:
Jesus was performing miracles among the Jews but then he refused to attend to a Phoenician woman who came begging him to heal her child!
WHY?
Jesus made it clear that the supernatural gifts aren't for people of other nations neither for the benefit of none Israelites! Matthew 15:24
So the miracles weren't meant for everyone rather it's for a certain purpose which Jesus emphasized. Therefore why should God give a blackman like me a strange power in the name of a Jewish man (Jesus) to heal me when all the other man did was just to believe in Jesus?

If it's all about believing in Jesus then miracles supposed to yapa like pure water because billions of people today claims they believe in Jesus so how come it's just few men or women whose teachings and doctrines contradicts one another that the power was given?

If they're all for the same Jesus why aren't they speaking in harmony? undecided
