Onitsha a city full of themost deadliest criminals, bad roads and dirty surrounding how can they still be having Ofala festivals how will visitors coming for the ceremony get there. What about their safety. It is a shame how we abandon the main issues and pretend that all is well. What is Ofala with out a good ambience and security of lives and property. I think the peopl of Onitsha, their Obi, their governor and their president should all their people should go an bury their faces in shame for inviting the whole would to go through the horror called Onitsha to come and watch Ofala. Is it the deadly potholes we are going to see or is it the madness at upper Iweka a major gateway to the eastern states. Nigerians stand up and demand for your right. Yes it is your sweat, your taxes, send away all mediocres in leadership position. Enough of useless exultation of mediocrity. What is Ofala without a good ambience. Or is it that after the Ofala inside Obis palace, visitors will go back and wade through gullies and potholes. Enough of the insult to the Nigerian psychy and the embarrassment to the whole world.
Given this ceremony would have beena great tourist attraction but the inability of the rulers to make Onitsha a place of attraction has made it a disaster. Please show me something else.
Ewu Awusa! So becos of the above the people should abondon thier cultures?? Mpama!

I am really proud to see the cultural gallance of my people turning some hateful people insane. . . This tradition originated from the ancient "NRI KINGDOM",but the onitsha people have come to glomourise it. . . It reminds me when we use to attent the "ICHI OZO NA IYOM" ceremony in my hometown UMUOJI in IDEMMILI NORTH. . .Nostalgic indeed!
I think ANAMBRA state has the most attractive and elegant culture in IGBO land.
If you have ever been to OZO title taking of a wealthy person, then u will never know how graceful the Igbo cultures can get, especially ANAMBRA's own! Thats why I tell every ONITSHA man who claims BENIN ancestry to drop all the tradition they borrowed from the most ancient "NRI KINGDOM" and do exactly like the BINI's. I think most of ONITSHA culture originated from the IDEMMILI IGBO axis which was an offshoot of the MOST SACRED NRI KINGDOM!!

This is lovely. The Onitsha kith and kins in Anioma Delta state also do this-it is called Ine and usually done at the same time in late September or early October. Same carnival, same drums, same attire, same fanfare!

ILEKE IDI,did I hear u say OSUN FESTIVAL ?
OSUN  festival is  the most BARBARIC,UNCIVILIZED,FETISH AND SCARY FESTICAL U CAN WATCH IN NAIJA. . . GO FIGURE,PEOPLE!!
Ileke idi, please dont you ever mention that DEMONIC FESTIVAL here again!!
Apart from Yoruba noisy party there is no other aspect of their culture thats enticing to the eyes. . .is it their OGBONI OCCULTIC SOCIETY parade!!
As somebody already corrected you, indeed, that part of onitsha is the IME OGBE. SO,this aint onitsha metropolis.

Strangest, are u saying that onitsha people were of benin ancenstry ? Or, are you saying they were "part" of the benin kingdom ?
Please, stop deceiving urself. . . The name "ezechima",if I dont know any better I will assume its a benin name.
OBI OF ONITSHA came out and publicly said that ONITSHA people arent benins at all,but they were actually the Igbos that crossed the naija to settle but had to relocate because of the troubles they were encoutering in the benin kingdom. . .please stop claiming people that dont even recognize you!!
Can you even tell me what makes you think that you were once benin people and not Igbos ?
The Ozo title,Agbalanze title, ndi ichies, ofalla and even the ikwa ozu rituals came from NRI KINGDOM. How come the all powerful, proud ezechima people completely lost their most superior BENIN culture and valour and completely picked the peoples culture they call "nwa onye Igbo"?
U lost ur language,ur culture ur identity and everything u allegedly got from ur benin father to the "nwa onye Igbo" If I were an onitsha person I wouldnt open my mouth and say we are from BENIN!

That Onitsha people cam from benin does not make them benin people. It just means that they once occupied the benin territory just as benin people once occupied the lagos territory.

@AK47mann,what do you know about the history and culture of the NRI KINGDOM as it relates to the Idemmili, Onitsha and the Delta north Igbos. . . If you know Onitsha man very well you figure the have low self esteem!!!
They call fellow Igbos "nwa onye Igbo" out of mockery, yet the culture, life style, land and their beautiful attire originated from NRI. . .I wonder why they dropped the BENIN attire and the YORUBA-BENIN demonic OGBONI fraternity and borrowed the ever ellegant Igbo tradition!!

Even the Igbo spoken in the ONITSHA,ANAMBRA axis is IDEMMILI IGBO tongue. . .ONITSHA PEOPLE need to stop feeling ashamed of who they are and embrace their lineage. . .its funny when somebody who has taken the OZO title, ODU title,AGBALANZE title and still says they are from BENIN!!! Its so sad and shameful !!!!! I wish they never spoke Igbo like the Igala people of northern Anambra, never have the rich and glamorous OZO title, never had the OTU ODU female chieftaincy tittle, never had the AGBALANZE OZO wealthy title, never had the NDI ICHIES. . . I regret that the ingrates borrowed our IDEMMILI traditions and still deny being IGbos. . .!!

You must be a one of those otokoto people. Tell us your state of origin so that we will compare and contrast it with Onitsha and Anambra state. Maybe you are one this militants from Aba who should go and seek FG Amnesty program so that you can improve on your broken life.

Onitsha is one of the biggest commercial city in West African sub region, the city records the highest visitation of people within and outside Nigeria after lagos, can your dirty and bloody state beat that record. Onitsha was ranked among the fastest developing cities in the world, does your occultic state of origin match that position.

Onitsha is one of the cities with earliest civilization in the entire SE/SS with the coming of the Europeans. Onitsha has the most colorful culture in the whole of the SE. Onitsha is cleaner and more organized than you filthy state of origin.

Peter Obi surpassed your useless governor by many degree of progress and good leadership. Well I have just realized that it is envy that is killing you madman. We cannot accept a fool and dirty pig like you in our midst.

indeed, the thing is that when you look at history of onitsha, starting from when white men came to settle in onitsha in 1850s during the royal trading port, those days really onicha was occupied by different igbo clans from different towns, some migrated from ogbunike, ichida, ogidi, ojoto, umunze, asaba, obosi,NRI, igbos migrated to onitsha land for "Economic" reasons it applied through out societies.
