The Manner Of Dressing For A True Believer In Christ. by pansophic(m): 9:06am On Jan 12
My fellow believers, I am here to share with you the wisdom and guidance of the Scriptures regarding the significance of modest dressing and its role in our Christian walk. It is a topic close to my heart, and I believe it holds immense value in our journey of faith.

Firstly, let us consider the words found in 1 Timothy 2:9-10, where it is written, "I also want the women to dress modestly, with decency and propriety, adorning themselves, not with elaborate hairstyles or gold or pearls or expensive clothes, but with good deeds, appropriate for women who profess to worship God."

We see here an emphasis on the adornment of the heart over outward embellishments. The focus is on cultivating a spirit of modesty, humility and respect rather than seeking attention through extravagant attire, jewelry or elaborate hairstyles.

When we talk about the avoidance of excessive jewelry, makeup, false hair, and body-exposing dresses, we can turn to 1 Peter 3:3-4, which states, "Your beauty should not come from outward adornment, such as elaborate hairstyles and the wearing of gold jewelry or fine clothes. Rather, it should be that of your inner self, the unfading beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is of great worth in God’s sight."

Here, the Scripture encourages us to find our true beauty in the inner qualities of our character and spirit, rather than relying on external enhancements. This spirituality means that relying on all form of jewelry, makeup and fashionable clothing are inherently wrong as the focus is on moderation and prioritizing the inner qualities of the heart which transcends and edifies the physical and outward appearance of the body to that which is acceptable to God.

Moreover, there is a huge range of prophecies which outrightly condemn these things as they represent an abomination before God. It's always wise to not discard prophecies that tend toward purity, modesty and holiness as these are crucial in the eyes of God and God in his infinite mercy still raises and sends his prophets in this age.

As his people we are advised to test the spirits in 1 John 4:1, it is written, "Beloved, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits to see whether they are from God, because many false prophets have gone out into the world." and if the spirit is true, to trust in the prophets. In the book of 2 Chronicles 20:20, it is written, "Believe in the Lord your God, and you will be established; believe his prophets, and you will succeed."

This verse underscores the importance of not only believing in the Lord but also trusting in His chosen prophets. It emphasizes that embracing the words and guidance of God's appointed messengers is integral to attaining success and establishing a steadfast foundation in faith. Do not be like the pharisees who were blind and couldn't recognize the Spirit in Jesus Christ while he ministered to them and the people around them. The Holy Spirit is a truth revealer but if you don't know him and how he operates, you won't believe his messages but condemn them as false. You need to test the messages, pray on them and ask for revelation if you lack the gift of discernment.

Furthermore If God were to send a prophet, he will definitely prophesy based on these virtues - Modesty, Faith, Righteousness and purity.
If a prophet comes to you in this message, as an heavenly minded believer, it will always be wise to test his messages through the Spirit rather than outrightly condemning them. It is God's desire for his children to separate themselves from the world in every way both within in the heart and without in the appearance. This cannot be far fetched.

As we navigate the choices of dressing and personal adornment, let us be mindful of the impact our choices may have on others and the message it conveys about our values and priorities as followers of Christ. God doesn't want our unclothedness to be exposed to public eye. Exposing the chest, Wearing all kinds of tight dresses, Mini and split skirts or dresses are all condemnable before God. If you believe otherwise, you need to question your knowledge of who God is.

Modesty in appearance is not just about following a set of rules, but it is about reflecting the dignity, self-respect, and reverence we have for ourselves as children of God.

So, my dear friend or lady, I encourage you to consider these teachings as you make choices about your appearance. Let your adorning be a reflection of the beauty that comes from a gentle and quiet spirit, honoring the Lord in all that you do. Extravagant or world conforming mode of dressing is forever condemnable in the faith.

If you have to know, here are some suggestions for modest dressing:

1. Choose clothing that covers your body appropriately, avoiding overly tight or revealing garments.
2. Select styles that are elegant and dignified, reflecting the beauty of modesty.
3. Seek out clothing made from high-quality fabrics that are both comfortable and modest.
4. Embrace graceful and modest accessories that complement your attire without drawing undue attention.
5. Avoid trendy fashion and accessories. Rather, look out for simple outfits which commands respect and dignity.

The world's love is fickle and often based on superficial
things. However, God offers unconditional love to the world, despite its flaws and shortcomings. It is possible for individuals within the world to open their hearts to receive his love and teachings only if they are keen to it. As for the believers, we are to forever stand out from the world, forever be a misfit in the society through Christ.

As it says in 1 John 2:15, "Do not love the world or anything in the world. If anyone loves the world, love for the Father is not in them."

May the grace and wisdom of the Holy Spirit guide you in embracing modesty and humility in all aspects of your life.
