It is unfortunate that Shell's reputation was damaged beyond repairs in the Niger Delta. The onshore divestment has been on for years now, it sold some of the assets to Transcorp plc which is a publicly listed company that has seen its share price moved from N1 around this time last year to over N15 today within just a year, giving a whopping 1500% capital appreciation gain to the fortunate Transcorp shareholders! This final one is long in the pipeline since after its last sale, following the unfortunate Ogoni murders and subsequent sentence to death of late Ken Saro-Wiwa. Since the late Gen. Sani Abacha sealed the death sentence for Late Saro-Wiwa, I knew the future of Shell in Nigeria is no longer certain. It eventually came to pass as it completely exits the Niger Delta onshore to focus only on deep water and gas business investments in Nigeria. Congrats to the new buyers. God bless Nigeria for ever!
