Abia State Announces Its New Modular Refinery Will Commence Operations In 2025.

The commissioner for information in Abia state has given the date for the completion of the Abia Industrial Innovation Park modular refinery.

The project will increase revenue for the government as well as provide job opportunities to the citizens of the state. This occurred after the Dangote refinery started operations following the delivery of the final six million barrels of crude oil.

Okey Kanu, the commissioner of Information and Culture, has said that the Abia Industrial Innovation Park (AIIP) modular refinery is scheduled to begin operations by 2025.

The new refinery is expected to provide thousands of direct and indirect jobs.

The commissioner added that the refinery would give thousands of indirect jobs and 2,000 direct jobs to the crowd of young people in Abia. “The project will help to provide refined products for the people of Abia as well as increase our revenue base as a state. “So, it is a project that is very important to this government and every effort is being put in place to ensure that the date is met.

“The state government is also ready to reap from the petroleum and mineral endowments in the state,
” he stated.

Refinery to create job opportunities

According to Kanu, many investors, particularly those in the petroleum industry, have expressed a strong desire to establish their operations in Abia.

He claims it will support attempts to increase the number of jobs available to young people. This came after the Dangote Refinery commenced production after receiving six million barrels of crude oil.

The company commenced the production of diesel and aviation fuel in the early hours of Friday, January 12, 2024.

Nigeria's oldest refinery begins operation Meanwhile, Legit.ng reported that the long-awaited Port Harcourt refinery is now ready, fulfilling the federal government's promise that operations will start in December 2023.

In a video update, the refinery lights were turned on Wednesday, December 20, 2023. According to a video uploaded on social media, the refinery's flare indicated the commencement of oil refining.

Yeah, saw it announced on the news yesterday. If oil producing states were proactive, had vision and were not sabotaged by a federal gov't that may unjustifiably feel threatened, then all of them should have at least one modular refinery and oil producing coy! I think one of the problems preventing this from happening is that the federal gov't doesn't want some states to produce more than the regulatory agencies claim they can produce!

Ipob obidient member that were shouting shamelessly like clowns across all social media platforms that Dangote refinery won't commence production till 2027 do not want their failed lives n failed government exposed.

Funkyswagzz,I put it to you that long after you dead and gone I estimate say 100 years this Refinery will not be completed I doubt even after you children n their children live 200 years that will not see a functional refinery by any n "am puting all of them in one", of the SE Igbo governors.
Funkyswagzz:

Bro stop acting like a kid cos we all know how many times tinubu don use ur brain soak garri for the past 8months

Bro leave story 14 years down the lane Orient Petroleum Refinery Peter Obi invested billions of Anambra fund is yet to come online or produce one single litre of fuel, yet same Peter Obi tribesmen were insulting Dangote refinery claiming it won't start production till 2027.

Dangote as now commenced production shame no let una talk again, instead of gaslighting the criminal Peter Obi n query where the money he invest in Orient went.

14 years after commissioning Orient Petroleum Refinery no gree produce piss talk more of fuel
.

NSNO:
That's great news, Edo has one already.
If we attack this refining of a thing like this, in 3 years time importation of petroleum products will be a thing of the past.
If we use this kind of energy to attack agriculture, security etc then the Nigeria of our dreams will become a reality little by little.
Not the yeye revolution those keypad warriors were calling for in the other thread.

OK let's agreed I am paid, what happened to the ₦4 billion Peter Obi the die hard criminal Peter Obi invested into Orient Petroleum Refinery, this refinery was commissioned 14 years ago.

How much longer do Nigerians have to wait to see a single litre of fuel from it. It is 14 years already or bcoa am paid that is why the refinery can not produce fuel after 14 years

Funkyswagzz:

Seems you are one of those paid online miscreants have they renewed your contract cos for some reason u guys just work up from slumber.. who knows how much u were paid to destroy obi's name. Wicked souls parading as human being

Why Nigeria is on retrogression like this?
Countries are talking of Ecofriendly energy (Green Energy), my country is dipping itself to fossil fuel energy. Edo Modular Refinery, Imo State Modular Refinery next is Abia State Modular Refinery.

Abia state have absolutely no business building a modular refinery honestly... This is a complete waste of money, the refinery can't mathematically breakeven not to talk about making profit

Expand the Aba gas pipeline network to the eyimba economic city, expand same to uturu, umuahia, Ohafia and arochukwu

Dredge the artificial Aba river expand it to umuahia providing alternative travel route for the people

And cheaper means to transport goods to umuahia and port Harcourt

Open up more specific industal layout with gas pipeline and good road infrastructure

Please stop this AWOLOWO like feel good project... Igbos are capitalists we don't do that rubbish

If we need our refinery provide loans for our brothers to build one

Government have no business in business

Dude, Anambra and Abia are two distinct states, and besides, both have different Governors than they had four years ago! That being said, i have a bit of faith in the capacity of Dr Alex Otti to deliver and i'm prepared to give him the benefit of the doubt! Like i said, a meddlesome and overbearing federal gov't prevents oil producing states from taking FULL advantage of the hydrocarbons domicilled within their domain!

In the same post you dismiss the viability of a modular refinery in Abia, you talk of a pie-in-the-sky El-Dorado of 'Enyimba Economic City'! Which of the two is more achievable in the Nigeria Abia state finds itself in today!?

Let's hope that Tinubu removes subsidy completely by then, so that the refinery can make a profit in the trillions.

Good job from Abia.

Government has no business in business

If Abia needs a module refinery there are more than 50 abians that can build one and run it profitably

If you don't understand my point ask for an explanation

Eyimba city is people driven, focus on creating the frame work

Didn't ask him to build the factory

But Tinubu is a capitalist, so as lagosians.
You can see how otedola and alakija and funke akindele etc are successful business minded lagos natives. Those three mention are from the ijebu dominant part of lagos and ijebu are known to business oriented.
Many more lagosians, only to name a few. Southwest is a capitalist region that believes in multiple taxation

I don’t think you have foresight. Let them build the refinery first, if they think later that it is better run by individuals, they can privatize it. Government refining of petrol is better to give critical state infrastructure non profit aimed PMS
