nairalanda1: Oga it is not just the earning of dollars, the major reason is corruption and illicit mopping up of the dollars, even if we make more dollars they might keep mopping it up illicitly making the dollar scarce.... 2 Likes |

Brendaniel: Nigeria, and most African nations are always broke because we don't earn enough dollars...and until we become a manufacturer of EXPORTABLE goods and services',..well, we can fight corruption, we SHOULD fight corruption, we HAVE TO fight corruption...and we still would be poor....because we don't do what the really big boys do. |

ukamowor:Airlines are now charging in dollars. I checked Qatar website that use to be in naira, Now $$. Besides they have removed cheaper classes of seats. All seats in economy are now on the highest billing levels. Ie in same economy, where you could find 500, 600 dollar cheap seats, it is no longer available, all is now premium. |

nairalanda1: I don't have problem with building industries to earn more dollars, my problem with your talk is putting the cart before the horse. Even China had to deal with corruption first before they started building, you want to earn more dollars with corruption alongside. First tackle the corruption then building industries will be very easy to do, you are behaving like Tinubu putting the cart before the horse, why do you think Ajaokuta steel and even the refineries are not working, are they not projects that should earn us more dollars ? Those projects have been taking in billions of dollars in every administration yet they have not seen the light of day, why? Because of corruption, why those projects did not work is because the government did not tackle corruption first, they put the cart before the horse which is the same thing you are doing. Talk about tackling corruption first before talking about building industries, stop putting the cart before the horse.... 2 Likes |

Brendaniel: It will take a lot of intentional planning and expertise to reverse the damage Buhari caused Nigeria. Buhari being president of this country is a terrible mistake in our history. It was 8years of decline and descent into economic anarchy. Nigeria need to create a political structure and process that will prevent people like Buhari from taking political power. |

lilytender: Yes. They can privatize CBN. American Federal Reserves (American’s CBN) is a public-private company, being run solely by private individuals. Check ‘CBN’ of Switzerland too. It’s a private company. They are more effective than government-run CBN. No nepotism. No corrupt officials. No parapoisim, paddy-paddy, man-knows-man. It is in our bank that you will see someone who read Forestry or Literature working as bank staff. I can’t lay my hands on the most up-to-date source of that of the US and I didn’t want to give you what looks like outdated proof. You can read more about it. But check that of Switzerland here: https://www.snb.ch/en/services-events/digital-services/faq-overview/qas/qas_unternehmen#t03 1 Like

Brendaniel:. I think say na only me de reason Wetin u reason. This nairalanda1 has his economic theories backward and inverted at the same time. As far as his concerned everything rises and falls on revenue. Once there is revenue, everything will be fine as if nigeria isn't earning revenue. He actually thinks Nigeria has a revenue problem and that the country must start earning like EU 1 Like |
