Since your post came imediately after mine, I would assume you are refering to me in your post so here is my response;

In Obudu Cattle ranch, the accomodation varies in prices. And none of those "on the ranch" come cheap. I went there to celebrate my birthday with some friends and the budget was actually 300,000'k for that trip, when they landed us the hotel bill for the one we chose (which was a fully detached 3 bedroom apartment), it was about 90'k or more sef per night. Anyways, we bargained down to 90'k and times 3 nights, do the maths.

Obudu though a nice place and all, is unnecessarily expensive. There isnt much to do there that cant be done in 48 hours tops. If you have the number for the ranch, give them a call and find out the rates for there apartments.

P.S:: Obudu ranch does not have hotels!! its more like detached houses ranging from single room huts to a presidential residence on the highest mountain point.

Big things poppin homes!! Didnt write that to impress you, was just stating my experience.
I believe u dear, they just stay afar and assume. Many people commenting here ve not seen the gate of the ranch not to talk of entering there. They just can't imagine what its like.

i was going to spend 5 days with my wife at Obudu but when i did the breakdown it was better we went to the UK which she would even enjoy more and we can shop

what also kills Obudu is the lack of air routes from Calabar or PH
the cabs will take like 50k while you have to house them through out ur stay.
A room is like 20+ K and light is not 247

I NEED TO PONDER ABOUT MOST ROMANTIC HONEYMOON DESTINATION IN NIGERIA. CHECK OUT TINAPA, OBUDU CATTLE RANCH ALL IN CALABAR. THE PLACE IS SECURE AND PEACEFUL . NO BOKO HARAM. NO MOSSOP, NO OPC ETC.

So we just pointed out that Obudu is nice, but way too expensive for very little fun! Apart from the cable car, the swimming pool at the base, the water fall area abi something like that, the ranch with those big milk cows, and erm!! YUP!! Thats it!

TINAPA!! Waste of time and resources!!

But on the whole sha! Calabar is a cool town to visit for relaxation, but since honeymooning is all about romance and sex, go to Obudu!
Re: Most Romantic Honeymoon Destinations In Nigeria. by Xionez(m): 7:11pm On Nov 09, 2011
Apart from Obudu Cattle Ranch, forget honeymoon in Nigeria. Honeymoon is ment to be a peaceful place where two lovebirds can rest and explore each other wink and their place of relaxation not to dodge buses, careless drivers, agberos, bullets, bombs, insults, mud, grime, broken bottles, stones and all that associated with chaos. Nigeria is a fitting honeymoon destination for a newbie (groom) in the military to get accustomed with his instincts (bride) and his reflexes (concubine)
If you want honeymoon, stay in the comfort of your crib and enjoy a month or two of laziness (and bleeping) or you travel out of Nigeria.
Most Nigerians tend to be indifferent to newly weds. The mentality of 'And so, would that change my life or the hardship my family is facing?' is the cause of this attitude towards new couples. The highest you can extract from them is like a minute of smiles, congratulations and chatter chatter chatter. After that its plain business.
Wonder how someone expects to go on a honeymoon to a place where there is unhappiness (dont give me that crap of Nigerians being one of the happiest people in the World), has an air of seriousness and activity. A place where you mentally and constantly revise through all the possible danger spots, hold-ups, exit points and safe houses before going on complete your goals or ambitions.
I am not dissing Nigeria but stating the facts and doing my own bit as proper citizen of a better Nigeria. And also being realistic . . . The Wonders of the World was not built on dreams alone, it had to be realistic if not it wouldn't be called a Wonder. It will be called JUST ANOTHER DREAM!!!!

i would assume you meant all in Cross River state. Tinapa is on the outskirts of Calabar and can pass for Calabar. Even though you would get there faster from Odukpani junction that from within the city gates itself. The ranch however is in Obanliku local government area, some 5/6 hours from Calabar by road if you go via the Odukpani-Akampa-Ugep-Obubra-Ikom-Obudu-Obanliku route. the ranch is not even in Obudu local government. So except you go by the chopper service from the Calabar airport, you spend some long hours on the road.
I went there as a corps member with friends some 10 years back, the place was still sparkling and there was discount for corpers. it was great. I however heard from one of my friends who we went there together back then that the place is not as well maintained as should be. The Nigerian tragedy of no upkeep culture.

Its definitely Obudu Cattle ranch. We are still waiting for a place to beat this ranch because it has occupied this position for too long.

and what about the Badagry axis? Don't they have decent hotels where one could quietly rest and take a walk along the beaches and watch the sun set? Aren't those what make the ladies swoon? If you can't afford to travel out of the country or go to Obudu, you can at least find a quiet cheap but decent hotel in any city in Nigeria and enjoy your spouse. Even waterside Aba overlooking the Ahia Udele meat market would do

Last time i was there (ending 2010), it was peaceful and all that, but you gotta have a strong contact in the Lagos State Government so that you can use their Relaxation Spot (which overlooks a river of some sort). The barracks is opposite so security is standard. The hotels there are in pieces but some are being renovated.

Platnum!:

Sorry o, but its better than not having a single spot to our name. sad

if you have cash, go to one of the places listed.

if you dont, then make an enjoyable honeymoon where you are.

even just going to the village [a safe one of course- not the ones where your ancestral enemies are constantly eyeing your family's progress] can be a honeymoon.

i think the main point is for the couple to have some time to themselves and enjoy each other's company before the cares of marriage set in.

Pray tell, how are you a cheapskate if you can't get off from work or aren't allowed to travel for your honeymoon?
There's a myriad of reasons why people don't travel. It isn't only about the money.
Which is why we bring the honeymoon to you in the comfort and sanctity of your own home.
