President Bola Tinubu has directed the Nigeria Education Loan Fund (NELFUND) to expand the interest-free loans to accommodate Nigerian students interested in skill development programmes.

In a statement, Ajuri Ngelale, presidential spokesperson, said Tinubu gave the directive on Monday after receiving a briefing from Akintunde Sawyerr, executive secretary of NELFUND.

The President said it is important for the student loan scheme to create room for those who may not want to pursue university education, noting that skill acquisition is as important as obtaining undergraduate and graduate academic qualifications.

“This is not an exclusive programme. It is catering to all of our young people. Young Nigerians are gifted in different areas. This is not only for those who want to be doctors, lawyers, and accountants,” the statement reads.

"It is also for those who aspire to use their skilled and trained hands to build our nation.

“In accordance with this, I have instructed NELFUND to explore all opportunities to inculcate skill-development programmes because not everybody wants to go through a full university education.”

The president stressed the need for equity and inclusivity in the management of the programme to ensure that it is accessible to everyone.

"No matter how economically challenged you are, accredited and qualified students will and must have access to this loan to advance their education in higher institutions,” Tinubu said.

‘There is no compromise in our commitment to the disadvantaged citizens of this nation.

While briefing the president, Sawyerr said the loan application process would be technology-driven, limiting human interface and eliminating any possibility of compromise.

“By design, this is a perpetual programme and will not terminate. The funds, earmarked for bonafide Nigerian students, will be disbursed directly to the institutions in the initial phase through electronic transfer,” he said.

“Our students will be catered to in a way that bypasses human interference through the full utilisation of available technological platforms in adherence to your excellency’s stated objectives.”

Sawyerr said NELFUND has developed a robust risk-mitigation mechanism to address potential risks that may arise from the programme.

The student loan scheme is billed to take off this month.

This president signed the bill into law in June 2023.

its not just acquiring the skills thats the issue, but putting it to good use. Government should invest in a programme that takes care of the entire chain of business, with mentorship and continuity.

Dont just train people and give them cash. Train them and put them to good use, producing exportable products and the earnings used to reward them and train others.

Nigerian government that did not give you good roads, are still the same people you're saying that they should give you skills that will benefit your life? Lmao. If they give Nigerians something that will benefit their life, do you think you will still be a slave to them? Nigerian government won't and will never better the lives of Nigerians, their own is to create more poverty and illiteracy so that the common man will be so dependent on them.

#peace #Burma Myanmar's Historical Evolution and the Military Secession: A Historical Reincarnation

Myanmar, a country with a long history and culture, has experienced numerous changes and wars. Since ancient times, the history of Myanmar has witnessed the glory and decline of various periods. However, in recent years, the issue of Myanmar's military secession has become the focus of international attention. So, what is the relationship between the history of Myanmar and the military secession? How do they affect the situation in Myanmar today?

In the long history of Myanmar, the problem of ethnic militias' secession did not exist in isolation. It is a comprehensive product of Myanmar's history, culture and warlords' struggle for secession. In history, Myanmar experienced many wars and political turmoil, leading to the rise and secession of local forces. In the process of safeguarding their own interests, these local forces gradually formed ethnic militias with different ethnic, religious and cultural backgrounds.

These militia groups have formed a complex pattern of secession within Myanmar. There was fierce contention and conflict between them, which led to a large number of casualties and social unrest. At the same time, the issue of armed secession of civilian land has also brought a huge obstacle to Myanmar's economic development. Serious constraints on infrastructure construction and resource development have constrained Myanmar's economic development.

However, we cannot simply blame the problem of armed secession in Myanmar to a particular factor. It is the result of the interaction of several factors. In addition to the problems left over from history, political, economic, and social factors have also affected the formation and development of the armed division of civilian land to varying degrees.

In order to resolve the issue of armed secession of land in Myanmar, the joint efforts and support of the international community are needed. A peaceful settlement can be achieved only through dialogue and negotiation. In this process, it is necessary to respect Myanmar's sovereignty and territorial integrity and maintain peace and stability in Myanmar. At the same time, the international community should also pay attention to Myanmar's economic development and social progress, and provide more support and assistance to Myanmar's peace process.

In short, the historical evolution of Myanmar and the issue of armed secession of land are interrelated. Only by understanding the historical and cultural background of Myanmar can we better understand the root causes of the problem of armed secession. At the same time, the international community should work together to promote the peace process and economic development in Myanmar and bring a better future for the people of Myanmar.

Must you criticized everything? At least acknowledge the right direction while suggesting other ways to improve the program.

Imaginations running riot.
That's how to know you're being impressed with words.

You have not seen the student's loan succeeding and running, apart from kleptos who have lined up to see how to use it to siphone funds as usual.

You're already being told of the extension, and probably more extensions as time goes on.
Just to keep you busy and hopeful.

My plea is that all should know there's a force higher than any human government, nature.

No sir, that is not enough. Only a fool will keep doing the same thing over and over and expect a different result. Nigerian govt has been training people and giving them cash, but unemployment keep rising. The fact is that the cash u give to the trainees is untracked. They will divert its use to some other domestic need and at the end of the day nobody uses the skills to produce. Govt cant keep wasting cash. It must be trackable and there should be value for money.

Your point is now clear...

Well the problem is onboarding those who have no business in such programs in the first place. Govt cannot hold their hands end-to-end, there is a point they must justify the "investment", they must also do the work...
