He proceeded to the University of Ibadan, where he earned a master's degree in international relations in 1997. He then moved to the United States, where he completed his PhD in political science at the University of Texas at Austin in 2003.

Career

Adeoriokin joined the faculty of Prairie View A&M University in Houston, Texas, as an assistant professor of political science in 2004. He specialized in African politics, comparative politics, and international relations. He was promoted to associate professor in 2010 and full professor in 2018. He published several articles and books on Nigerian politics, democracy, and development. He was also a visiting scholar at Harvard University, Oxford University, and the Brookings Institution.

Adeoriokin was also active in Nigerian politics as a member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). He contested for the House of Representatives seat for Ejigbo/Olorunda/Osogbo Federal Constituency in 2019 but lost to the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate. He remained loyal to the PDP and supported Governor Ademola Adeleke, who was his friend and classmate at the University of Lagos.
