You can adopt whatever tribe you like, there are no legal documents involved. As for you name, you could change that via deed poll, any lawyer could draw one up for you, or you could do it cheaply online. Just google "change of name by deed poll". |

Re: Change Of Tribe by grafikdon: 9:52am On Sep 18, 2007 |
jayon: Wow, you did well my child, please everyone give this brave man a round of applause! NOT! You are either a Yoruba hater masquerading as a Yoruba man or someone under the influence of an illegal substance. If you're truly a Yoruba man (Very unlikely) you need your head examined, no offense here buddy, I just find your request very disturbing and derogatory. |

Re: Change Of Tribe by MoOdYLaDy(f): 9:56pm On Sep 18, 2007 |
jayon: jayon:How can you be ashamed of your tribe , so you think other tribes does not have their advantages and disadvantage . Everyone are dirty, gossips , tribe has nothing to do with it or nationality. Am Yoruba, a Lagosian and proud to be one, I will never change or trade my tribe, nationality or color for anything.!!!!!!!!! I love who I am Am pretty sure you have never been to Nigeria not to talk of visiting your home state, but because of the negative things you see people write on Nairaland, you decided to label the Yoruba’s has been bad. Abeg change your tribe fast jare, you are a disgrace to the considered Yoruba !!!!!!!rubbish Some African Americans are looking for a place to claim has their homeland, but you here disowning who you truly are. !!!!!!!!!!!shiooooooo How old are you I LOVE AMALA ,EWEDU with fish and spicy soup, too bad i don't have a chance to eat it since am in school, and i don't have time cooking like that, will trade those fries and chicken |

Re: Change Of Tribe by Nobody: 8:37am On Sep 19, 2007 |
I wonder why Jayon's being crucified by wanting to change tribe? It's his choice, I don't see it as right or wrong, I see it as an individual making a choice. If he changes his tribe / name, it's not going to affect anyone, so why the beef? |
Re: Change Of Tribe by theffanyi(m): 9:23am On Sep 19, 2007 |

|
Re: Change Of Tribe by tomX1(m): 12:17pm On Sep 19, 2007 |
Jayon your desires are in order so don't let any one tell you differently. The way to go about it is this: 1. You need to go back to your village and and get a keg of palmwine from the oldest tapable tree in the village 2. You also need to trace out the oldest grave in the village. 3. Take of your clothes and tie a white piece of cloth around your neck. 4. Stand on the grave and with a loud voice renounce your membership of your tribe. 5. Proceed by taking a cleasing bath with the palm wine. 7. Lie on your left side on the grave, with your right hand scoop a handfull of dirt off the grave and rub on your head. 8. Point the index finger of your right hand to the sky and begin to chant the name of the new tribe you wish to belong to. Continue step ( for three days and three nights. It works like magic. No paperwork needed. |

Re: Change Of Tribe by grafikdon: 11:33pm On Sep 19, 2007 |
jayon: Jayson, you don't have to 'give up' your tribe. You can be Yoruba and Igbo at the same time. . . and you actually are by birth. Just lean back and enjoy because you are sitting on top of two worlds. . . you should be proud of yourself, man and shouldn't bother about changing anything. I understand from your post you lean towards your mother's culture because you spent more time with her people but ry and spend sometime with your father's people. . . you will thank me later. |

Re: Change Of Tribe by Tats(m): 2:07pm On Sep 21, 2007 |
@Jayon, You will have to naturalise as an igbo guy. Go and live in Asaba for 5 years and then you will get permanent residency there. After that, then you can naturalise. Change your name in any newspaper sold in that area. It is very easy |
Re: Change Of Tribe by laudate: 3:09pm On Sep 21, 2007 |
jayon: ROFLMAO!! Abeg, where are all the Yoruba people on this forum? Na wey dem dey, sef? Can they come and hear dis guy? Chei! I beg, make I laugh well, well!! Nothing wey person no go hear for dis place! How confused can a person be? Is this a case of someone suffering from self-hatred, or has he been brainwashed by other people? Truly Jayon, does your mum think Yoruba life is a bunch of nonsense, too? And if you are so convinced it is a bunch of nonsense, then why not ask your mum why she gave birth to you through a Yoruba man, instead of having a baby for someone else from any other tribe, eh? *Please o, no offence meant to your mum. Am just trying to understand what led to your strange kind of reasoning. You sound like you were brought up in one of those decadent slums or ghettos, and the way of life in those places has shaped your thinking and has formed your level of exposure. Grow up and educate yourself, kid. Learn to free your mind. |
