Imo state banned okada during okorocha tenure but in the last few years okada has returned to Owerri as a major means of transportation. Cities of Onitsha, Enugu, Awka and even Abakaliki, Asaba, etc has banned okada and maintained it but the ban failed in imo state due to rise in poverty and lack basic infrastructures .

You are very correct. I was in Owerri last week and what I saw was an eyesore. The Town is now a shadow of itself. Yahoo Boys that were the ones that, were the source of Money in the Town have all relocated out of Owerri.

The price of things are too expensive in that town. Most people can barely feed themselves.

You are 100% correct. It is the People of South East that are suffering most from the present economic hardship. The price of things are x15 of how it is sold in other region.

In Onitsha where I live, 3 pieces of Tomatoes is 500. The smallest tuber of Yam is 3k. To cook a pot of soup without fish or meat will cost more than 4k.people are really suffering here in the East.

When I traveled to Kaduna for Christmas, I had to extend my stay with over 2 weeks. I felt like I should not go back to Onitsha. Cost of living is very cheap over there. Nepa hardly take light and everyone is living peacefully with one another.

Transportation to the East is even the worst. From Kaduna to Onitsha was between 40k to 70k. While from Kaduna to Asaba was 18k in an AC Bus. But Asaba to Onitsha is less than 3km.
