According to reports, 20-year-old Morgan Ribeiro tragically lost her life after a weight-loss surgery in Turkey went terribly wrong.

Morgan, who had faced years of bullying for her weight, opted for a £2,500 gastric sleeve operation, seeking a quicker alternative to the NHS waiting list. In a poignant TikTok post just days before the procedure, she expressed, 'My last post before weight loss surgery - see you on the other side.'

The surgery took place on January 5, and after receiving clearance, Morgan and her boyfriend James Brewster, 19, boarded their return flight to Gatwick. However, during the journey, Morgan fell seriously ill, entering septic shock, prompting an emergency landing in Serbia. It was then revealed that her small intestine had been cut during the gastric sleeve procedure, leading to a severe infection

Despite surgeons removing over 10cm of her small intestine, Morgan suffered a heart attack on January 9. Placed in an induced coma, she tragically passed away four days later in a Belgrade hospital.

Morgan's family was unaware of the planned operation until days before her departure, expressing concerns about the associated risks. Her sister, Kayleigh Ribeiro, pleaded with her not to undergo the surgery, which carries multiple health risks.

Erin Gibson, Morgan's mother, is now fundraising £10,000 to repatriate her daughter's body and has called for increased government intervention to educate about the dangers of such surgeries. Reflecting on Morgan's struggles with bullying and body image, Erin stated, 'I never ever want this to happen to another daughter. I don't want her life to be in vain.'
