Can you forgive a serial killer?

Gary Ridgway, the famous green river serial killer, snuffed out the lives of at least 48 women in the state of Washington, kept a stoneface all through the time in court, claimed he forgot about all the women she killed, never cared about what anyone said to him in court........ but something extraordinary happened.

Ridgway suddenly broke down in tears when one of the victim's father, Robert Rule, whose daughter's murder produced incalculable grief, forgave him.

“Mr. Ridgway," Robert said, "there are people here who hate you. I am not one of them,” Rule said. “You’ve made it difficult to live up to what I believe and what God says to do and that is to forgive."

“You are forgiven.”

This is exactly what God did for us in Christ Jesus, he looked at all our wrongs, and every evil we did, yet He said, "there are people here who hate you. I am not one of them, you are forgiven."

There is something forgiveness does to the heart, there's a love and peace it suddenly gives you, it can break down any wall, however hard it is.

It is good to forgive but we must allow the law to take its course so as to serve as deterrent to others. 48 is not a small number.
