What you should know about Hot pepper farming business.

1. Pepper is a perennial crop but farmers, in most cases, treat it as annual crop. Pepper can last for years with good agronomic practices.

2. As a farmer when choosing the variety of pepper to grow your first considerations should be diseases resistance then good yield before other features like scorchness, pungency and size.

3. Hot Pepper is harvested every 4 days, 5 days or weekly depends on the farmer and market with a commercial harvesting of over 9 months with good management. Hereby generating steady and weekly income for the farmer.

4. Chill thrips and Pepper leaf curl virus is one of the Major Problems in Pepper farming. Most local varieties are resistance to them.

5. Pepper market doesn't GLUT unlike other vegetables because almost every household consumes pepper the market and demand is always there. The average price of pepper aside peak period still makes it very profitable.

6. Hot Pepper likes organic manure always apply enough manure ( piggery or poultry dropping) at least once every month, same with fertilizers at least once every month, and smile at your bank weekly with good production.

7. Pepper doesn't perform well during dry season unlike raining season due to means of conserving water and saving itself from high temperature it shades most of flowers and leaves, leading to low productions.

8. Always give you pepper good management's like:
- Application of Manure and fertilizers monthly.
- Making sure the farm is weed free
- Spray Fungicides, insecticides and foliar fertilizer at least every 2 weeks or as the case maybe.

Letting your production cut will lead to set back in harvesting.

9. With time your pepper production will start dropping, will shed leaves and flowers is a ways of regenerating into the next phase of production.
