I will be very brief so please Read this patiently.

I went to the Bush to buy cassava, bags of beans, rice and corn to sell in the city.
On my way coming, some people threw stick and metal barricade on the road.

Being a first timer in the business of buying and selling food stuff, I asked my drive who these people are.
My driver told me, they are people who collect money on the road side. They claim they collect for produce or revenue. Some times they endup collecting more than revenue.

I came down and told them. My name is fatherchristmas and this is my first time of being in the food business. They said I have to pay and collect some ticket.

After dragging back and forth, I ended up paying more than 40,000 just to pass through kogi state alone, not to talk of the amount I paid in the other states I have been passing through.

Now when I get to where I am going to sell my products, I will have to do the calculations and make sure I regain all the money that was collected from me through my journey by both police, soldiers and the "producer men".
At the point of doing my calculations, I realize I am already in serious debt due to all the money collected from me by bringing the foodstuff over here.

What can I do ? I will have to increase the price of the commodity to the end users. I feel guilty, but it's the government that collected alot from me just to move my goods from one place to the other.

At the end, I am still owing and I have to pay people for different reasons. Customers come and ask, "why are things this expensive?". "it's the government", I replied.

Tell both the state government and federal government to reduce the taxation on food and other commodities. And the economy will start to get right. You cant over tax people and be thinking we won't endup in debt

This is what we who are into raw produce are facing that you don't get to discuss in the streets because the regular man don't understand.

When we are coming with raw foodstuffs, alot of money is spent. From transportion to settling people by the road side.
Even Services are extremely expensive now and you will have to pay except you are ready to carry the bags on your head yourself into the trailer. Which of course, is impossible matter how stingy or resourceful you might be.

I hope someone in government sees this. Thank you

The president legalized tax collection by touts, area boys, soldiers and police in LAGOS.

Isn't that a general knowledge since you know the man? Now it is a national gesture, in Lagos mainland every bus stop, street, close, lane have several touts collecting tax.

This is why we need a military regime in this country.

Nonsense like that does not happen under military rule.

Everybody checks himself.

Today, a BLOODY CIVILIAN can just wake up and start charging people money on the road.

Could you dare try that under Gen. Sani Abacha or Gen. Abdulsalami Abubakar, even if you be police?

Dem no born you well to try am!

This our 'democracy' thing is just chaotic.

So, what do you want the government to do?
Subsidize or hire truck pushers or service men for you?
As to the guys collecting money on the road, the government won't
bother because it is a socio-economic problem and sometimes with political patronage.
If you arrest some today, others will simply replace them. It is seen as their job.

You now want to blame what has been happening across the entire Nigeria, over time.immemorial, on Tinubu?

Your fellow Nigerians are rapacious and opportunist. Deal with that reality and stop trying to make your discussion input solely about giving a Dog you hate a bad name to ensure it is hanged.

When has Bandits and terrorists extorting farmers for ‘duty' and tax ever been an issue in Lagos for you to the blame how it is common practice in the North on Tinubu?

Kidnapping nko? Did Tinubu also teach the North and the entire Nigeria to be proficient in it when we all know kidnapping is virtually unheard of in Lagos?

Some of you are not ready to put petty sentiments aside and brainstorm for a working nation. For now, blame game and pointing fingers is all you wish to do.
